sorry it is confusing. My OH cant see or access the account but he knows the acc number but he had email from sis stating the amount in the acc and he knows how much the house sold for and knows the costs involved.Spendless said:
Agreed, but then why would OP's husband be able to see it and once all final bills had been taken out wouldn't sister just transfer half the money over rather than needing an accountant to 'sort it out'?bobster2 said:If the sister opened, and has been using, this Natwest account to administer the estate - then it would be entirely normal for it to be an account in her name (and not necessarily a special executor's account).
There would be nothing unusual, or particularly suspicious about that. Many other aspects of what has gone on might be unusual - but not this.
(That's the bit that makes no sense to me)
So he hasn't seen a current statement with his own eyes?!?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -
Ok, so there is written evidence that at the time of the email, the amount in the named account is what you OH expected as a result of the sale. And OH knows the account number. Good
Who knows what and has control over the PO account? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing2 -
I'm a little surprised the accountant will discuss the issues with the OP's husband. Unless, I missed the bit where the sister has authorised the accountant to do so.
As an accountant we tend to work under the same client confidentiality as a solicitor.1 -
I've read back, OP DH emailed the accountant rather than spoke directly (I believe) so I'm guessing a response could be sorry, can't talk without your sister's permission (if that would be allowed) or contacting sister to say I've received an email from your brother , he wishes for his 50% share to be distributed.uknick said:I'm a little surprised the accountant will discuss the issues with the OP's husband. I also agree with the above 2 posts, sis telling her brother how much is in an account via an email doesn't mean it's still there but yes this provides evidence - assuming the email hasn't been permanently deleted.
Hopefully there will be positive update soon.

he has just emailed his sis and told her that he wants this sorting. I phoned the probate service yesterday and they explained a few things. I think he is just worried she will withdraw all the money and refuse to give him any of it.Sea_Shell said:2 -
I'm sure someone will clarify but I believe he'd be able to take it to court if that happened.paul2louise said:

His sis has just replied. I seriously think she is "on something". She told him he has stolen things from his mums loft from her old house before she moved to her retirement bungalow. She accused him of all sorts of stuff. She said Rot in Hell and apparently we are uninvited to her wedding in the summer. He is calming down a bit but i feel really sickened. I will get him to ring the probate people in the morning. They were lovely with me when rang yesterday. I need him to hear what they told me.2

Looking on the bright side, you don’t need to buy her a wedding present now.Fashion on the Ration

🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes i have to admit that is a definite advantage. I am just in shock with how unhinged she appears to be.Sarahspangles said:Looking on the bright side, you don’t need to buy her a wedding present now.4
