OP I don't suppose you are on the priority Services register - or eligible to be - are you? If so then the easiest way of getting this sorted might be to request a meter read on the basis that the smart meter has gone dumb. That should then go back through the system and correct things. (Although "should" and "will" might be two different things - the whole situation "should" have flagged up with the supplier some time ago!)

Update Update I made a formal complaint yesterday to BG and they got back to me today. They are insisting that the readings given, ie in kWh, is correct! I have given them the opening reading of 30330 which they sent on my welcome letter last July and have updated with a  present (volume) reading of 03093 but they are saying the previous readings are correct.
  • Hi,
did you include photies of meter?

Send them a photograph of the meter perhaps - make sure it clearly shows the "kWh" reference then a second photo showing the volume reading "M3". Ask them to confirm why, if they are using your kWh reading to bill you in kWh (they aren't!) your bills show a conversion factor?

I just don't think they have a clue! I know I don't to much extent but they should know what they're talking about...it's so tedious!
    Yes will do that...

It's pretty disgraceful really that the people in Customer Service are seemingly so clueless that they presumably don't even understand why taking your readings in kWh is incorrect!

@Roly98 - was this a response to the formal written complaint or just a phone complaint to CS. ?

You need to go beyond the CS level until you find someone who knows what they are talking about .
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Yes. And that they haven't even bothered to read my complaint properly... I made it quite clear that the readings had been given in kWh instead of volume/m3.
