Guide to reading your gas meter:

Thank you... I do know how to read the meter though. Can you see the two photos that I posted?[Deleted User] said:Guide to reading your gas meter:

If you have been submitting that figure then that is where you are going wrong, that is usage in kWh.
Your 6 kW in an hour is not unreasonable if that is the boiler working from cold.
The CUBIC METER screen is what you should be looking at when submitting readings to your supplier.1 -
BG assured me that this is the reading I need to give!EssexHebridean said:That screen appears to be showing the use in kWh? If that is the case then 6 kWh = around 66p, and a distinctly reasonable amount for the boiler to be using in an hour I would have thought?
Can you scroll the meter to the M3 screen as that should show a far slower increase in numbers.0 -
BG assured me that this was the right reading! I gave other readings... went through the screens[Deleted User] said:Look bottom right. The reading showing is in kWh not volume. You need to access the volume meter index in cubic meters and give this reading to your supplier.0 -
What do you see when you press 9Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

BG is assuredly wrong. If you look at your statement you will see the conversion formula that BG has used to convert your volume reading to kWh. All gas is measured by volume not kWh.Roly98 said:
