Escape to the country & living off savings

Thanks KK, Arrietty, Tresinia and jwil 😘
3rd uss done and another biopsy. I asked for extra local anaesthetic this time and it wasn’t painful. Feeling a bit fed up as I now have to wait another 2 weeks but the consultant I saw afterwards tried to be reassuring. I tried to ask questions but I’m just met with the same answers to wait for results and don’t look online. I only look online at the links McMillan give me and to be honest if I didn’t look online I would be completely in the dark. Just an ache at the biopsy site now the local is wearing off, but more painful in my neck and shoulders from the bending and twisting for the scans. You need to be a contortionist to get on the mammogram slab afterwards for the scan to see the markers they put in during the biopsy 🙄
Went into the hospital caff after and had shepherds pie and veg for lunch & bottle pmax £8.92. Walked back to the car which I left in the residential area a fair distance away as there are no restrictions there. Drove across town and called into aldee for a few meal items for over the weekend £17.92. I’m not allowed to do any heavy lifting for 24 hours so just got chicken, bacon, salad, nuts, strawberries, 2 box tissues, 70% choc, eggs.
It’s been dry all day and sunny spells so the washing I hung out this morning has dried and I’ve just brought it in. Hopefully it will be dry enough over the weekend to get 2 more loads of towels & light coloured clothes washed & dried.

I can understand why they say don’t google, but I can also understand why you’d want to! Hope the 2 weeks pass swiftly with some nice distractions and you don’t suffer too much discomfort from the biopsy.
I managed to get some washing dry today as well, but the forecast here for the weekend is very wet! Maybe I will FINALLY get into my craft room to give it a tidy … 😉

glad biopsy wasn't painful SYA - sorry to hear you’ve another wait on your hands. It does sound like they are being thorough with you tho.
Please be gentle on yourself and don’t hurt yourself pegging out/bringing it back in etc.
I hear you about the garden explosion - made a small start on some overdue pruning today and found a silly wood pigeon nesting in a miniature tree less than 5 foot off the ground! So am leaving that corner of the garden to the feathery flibbertigibbet. Our wood pigeons never have much luck nesting so am hopeful this is their year. Unlikely though in poor choice of nest location. 🙄

Thanks for the good wishes KK, Sheilavw & Suze. Lol about the flibbertygibbert pigeon Suze 😂
I’ve had DS & gf & dogs here for the weekend and had a lovely time. 🥰 Since they went back I’ve been mostly cleaning & hoovering & tried to get washing dry on the line between downpours.
Tomorrow I am going into town to open some new savings accounts. I want to open a cash isa & a 5% account with Nwide to put away some money that dad left me. I might get the bus as it’s less stress than driving in town. Friday I have aquafit in the morning and then meeting up with my niece and little lad 😍

Good morning,
It sounds like you had a lovely weekend 😊
I'm not sure at what age we get a free bus pass but I am absolutely ready to make the most of it when it happens! Hope you have a good journey.
Very pleased to hear that Aquafit is happening on Friday … and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for hot roast chicken after 😆

Sya, 5% is a good rate and long may it continue. I had a 6% one with nsandi a couple years ago but haven't been able to get close since, I locked some up at4% last year but regret that as rates have gone back up, it's hard to know what to do without a crystal ball!

Arrietty I don’t think we get a free bus pass until state pension age now. I will be going to my nieces after aquafit but I might pick up a cooked chicken on the way home for tea. 😊
Tresinia I think we just have to invest at the best rate at the time with the bank etc we are happy. My investments earlier in the year are just over 4%. I usually go for a fixed rate and then stop looking until they mature. Otherwise I would go crazy following the market rates as they go up & down 🤯🫣😉
I’m just having a cuppa before walking up to the bus stop. Our fares are capped at £3 so £6 return. It would probably be cheaper to drive as I’m going alone but I don’t want to stress about parking in the multi storey

Had a good trip to town. Bit of a spendy day
- bus fares £6
- Fish & chips, mushy peas, bread & butter, pot of tea £9.50
- Opened a new isa 1 year fix 4.3%
- Opened a member bond 5%
- Ordered 2 button up tops from asd@ when I got home (£24) as I couldn’t find any suitable in chazzers or primarni
- Closed the executor account
- Closed my last year isa moved diy money into instant access account
Felt strange going to our usual fish & chip shop without dad 😢 but I’m glad I went. It was our usual visit after going to the banks. Was going to open an instant access account with Hfax in nearby little town to keep some money under probate amounts for DS to access (funeral fund) Found out local branch are closing in 2027 so I will think about it. That means there will be no bank in local little town but they are all in big town & in town near DS.
Had a call from fraud dept at my bank re payment to one of new accounts. Rang my bank on verified number and was transferred to fraud team & account unlocked again 🙄
Had a call from bc nurse and my next appointment has been moved forward a week to this Friday 😁
