Parking sign situated too high on a pole for me to be able to read - what are the rules for signs

There are too many acronyms in the parking industry for me to get my head around.
I emailed the Hospital Trust about the signage and will follow up with that.
I am usually very careful where I park and never knowingly park illegally.
I have only ever received 2 PCN tickets, and I have been driving for over 30 years. One was for entering a bus lane in the hours it was in operation, and the other was for an illegal  'no right turn'. It was legal for buses and cycles to turn right as the sign on the pole stated, but not for other vehicles. The road markings just had a right turn lane and arrow filter for turning right but I did not notice the sign on the post that said 'buses and cycles only'as I was in a hurry to turn into the road while the traffic was clear.  I was in the wrong in both instances and paid up.
I almost forgot, I did once receive a fine for overstaying the parking time in a Sainsburys car park, but the supermarket manager had the ticket cancelled when I provided proof of shopping there.

You did not received a "fine" in a Sainsburys car park and did nothing illegal.
The private parking industry is a total shambles full of scams and rule bending, the industry loves it being complicated with drawn out procedures and the acronyms make it worse of course.
But PPC's are on this day in day out, the average driver isn't and the bottom feeding PPC's just try to wear people down into submission.
That's why this forum exists, but the regulars cannot do much about the process only guide through it as best they can.
