The ice cream van sounds like a fun way to earn some extra £'s, Justcrackingonwithit! Hope you're feeling better now. I think lots of us are suffering from January-itis.

I had to do a little top up shop this morning - eggs, milk, squash, a few bits for DS and some toiletries I'd run out of.  £14.25 spent and will likely be the last I need to buy before payday now, so I may actually have just under £60 left over between the groceries and spends pot to shuffle elsewhere. It'll be a January miracle! I just haven't gone out much or spent much this past month, just because I've not felt like doing so and have been conscious of trying not to overspend. I have got my hair appointment booked for Friday and the money set aside for that but I may postpone it later today as I'm not desperate to have it done and I'd rather keep the money as mine for an extra week.

The refund I have been chasing has finally reached the CC along with the ebay money I sent to it yesterday so that balance is looking a lot better.  It'll be paid off this week with the gifts pot and I'm really pleased I'll still have a decent amount left in there afterwards to more than cover OH's birthday next month.

I spoke too soon about leftover money… DS lost a piece of protective gear needed to play his sports and his father was supposed to be picking a replacement up before he played again at the weekend, I just found out he didn’t bother and encouraged DS to play without it which is completely irresponsible. It’s just luck he wasn’t injured. That man only cares about himself. I’ve replaced it today at a cost of £25.
I also spent just over £18 in HB on some toiletries I couldn’t get this morning and some medical bits we’d run out of. I also picked up icing for when I make DS’s birthday cake and some chocolate may or may not have snuck in… it’s been one of those days. DS had to have some quite intense and painful dental work done today, the 2nd of 3 appointments. He was so brave and calm whereas I was just wishing I could swap places with him the whole time, it was awful watching him in pain.

Had to cut the above post short as had another minor medical issue to sort out for DS which involved a trip to the doctors/pharmacy. What a day! We had a lovely late afternoon/evening though watching a film, playing football and laughing a lot so that more than made up for it.  <3 Unbeknownst to me too, a friend popped round whilst DS and I were at the dentist and left me some lovely flowers as a little cheer up gift which was very kind of her. Sad to miss her for a chat though, hopefully we'll be able to catch up soon, work and life gets in the way. The flowers are beautiful and are making my dining room smell lovely.

In money news, I managed to change my hair appointment from Friday to two weeks away which will save me some money in the long run. It doesn't desperately need doing yet either, I'll probably look like a badger by then though!
The PB's withdrawal reached the account today so I've sent it straight to the ISA. It's motivating to see the interest earnt daily via the app. Hopefully the ISA transfer from the old account will happen soon, I'm being impatient on that front.

How lovely of your friend to bring you some flowers. It's often the little things which provide joy, isn't it?

It really is, foxgloves and there were enough to spread across two vases, so I feel very lucky.

What a dark, dismal morning today. It almost still felt like night time when I dropped DS off at school. I'm dreading the forecasted storm tomorrow and Friday, I need to secure my fencing and double gates today as they only just survived the last bad weather.

I purchased a couple more bits for DS's birthday yesterday as I realised he's grown out of 99% of his pyjamas. I bought two lots of tops and bottoms I know he'll wear using a 10% off code from TU, so a cost of just over £15. I also picked up some specific sports-related footwear he desperately needs at his father's. He has been making do with other shoes for the best part of a year (that I also bought and have never been seen here again) that are not for the same purpose and are now ruined themselves. I suggested to his father that it would be a good idea for a Christmas gift idea for DS but that didn't materialise, so I've bought them so he doesn't have to go without and feel embarrassed in front of his sports team when he attends from his father's house. They are normally around £40 but I managed to pick up a new with tags pair on ebay for just over £30. I also ordered some cake decorating bits yesterday for DS's birthday cake as I've always made him a themed birthday cake since he was a baby and it's become a tradition that both of us love.

I've used the gifts pot to pay off the credit card this morning as I'm anxious when I have a balance built up on it. It has left the gifts pot emptier than I would have liked but it will get topped up again tomorrow as it's payday - finally. After OH's birthday there aren't really many birthdays I need to cover for a few months.

It is a miserable wet day here. Waiting for the storm to come in. I will be glad when the better weather appears and we can all save money on heating. No fun watching the pennies clock up each day. You do so well all by yourself you should be proud how you manage and how organised you are x

Fingers crossed you miss the worst of the bad weather, Mrs_Money_Penny. I think we've had all 4 seasons in one morning here so far! Thank you for your kind words xx

I've emptied the contents of my wardrobe onto my bed today and tried everything on. I didn't have a lot in there to start with as I don't really have many clothes, but now there's less and I've got rid of things that are way too big or are looking really tired. It means the charity shop bag is now full so I've moved it downstairs by the door so I can pop it in the car when I go to the gym later. I've put aside some too big summer clothes which I know my sister will like for her to have when I next go home. I need to do the same with two drawers from my chest of drawers at some point. One has tops in, the other jeans & leggings/gym trousers. I know some of it is too big now and some is really worn and looking past its best so I need to browse the charity shops again soon as clothes are a real 'need' at the moment but I don't want to spend much money.

I've just had a bowl of tomato & veg soup from a vat of it I made the other day. There was so much soup i could have fed the street! I froze lots of portions for future lunches and have a portion left in the fridge for tomorrow. I didn't really fancy it today but wasn't going to waste it and it was actually lovely when I ate it and very healthy too. OH is bringing over some fish for tea tonight and I'm providing the veggies to go with it as I have lots to use up.
