Sounds like a blissful Sunday morning. Hope the rest of the day was as lovely.
How are things with DS, is he at his dads?

Yes, I think I've resigned myself to staying here a couple more years, it makes sense and will probably be the best decision for me financially for now. Yesterday I had a quote of £650 for a PIV unit to help with the condensation issue which I didn't think was too bad. The windows are like a vertical lake in the mornings and I've had some problems with mould on furniture.I just don't know if I want to part with £650 right now and I'm wondering how much of a difference it will make. I have had one in a house before but that was a new build so didn't really suffer from much condensation. If anyone has experience of a PIV unit in an older house I'd welcome some feedback on how much they've helped.
My Sunday wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped but it involved doing a few good deeds and helping OH's parents so it was time well spent in solving a stressful situation for them.
Unfortunately the week has gone rapidly downhill. OH was made redundant yesterday after 30 years in his job, completely out of the blue. He is devastated and really struggling with the news and certainly didn't deserve to be treated the way he and another colleague have. He is not sure where to go from here but I am trying to keep him positive but it is hard, I really feel for him.
DS is back with me now. He was just lovely at the weekend but seemed to have left that mood at his Dad's and came back all 'grunty', snappy and moody again. The joys of having a teenager! I bit my tongue so much last night to avoid conflict but I did have to have words with him this morning about his attitude so he didn't go to school in the nicest of moods towards me today which has left me feeling. Hopefully today is a better day.
Another item sold on vinted over the weekend so I posted it this morning. That'll be another £7.50 in a pot when it clears. I am also returning the stupidly expensive pillow as it seemed to make my neck worse and has developed a hole in it already. I need to post that and something of OH's I sold on ebay for him today.
The CC balance has increased due to birthday gift shopping for DS as he finally thought of a couple of things he wanted. It can all be covered from the gifts pot though so I will pay it off when I'm done with the purchases and the refund from the pillow has cleared. My parents will also transfer money for DS's gifts on behalf of them too.

Personally we use a dehumidifier which has made a difference, though being a larger household (2A3C) hasn't eliminated all moisture so windows get a wipe along the bottom edge with a ragged towel in the mornings
There's a post on MSE Dehumidifier or PIV or window vacuum or…(listed building)? - Page 2 — MoneySavingExpert Forum wGroceries: Personal Spend: 0 NST NSD Goals for 2025:Self: Health: Wealth :1 -
Thanks bizzie. I do have a dehumidifier that I use in DS's room and 'window vac' the windows when needed, but it just returns straight after I've cleared it! It's so frustrating. I'll take a look at that post, thank you.

The ebay sale and pillow return have been posted on a sopping wet walk to the post office. It was weirdly soothing though, I felt like I could have just kept walking in the drizzle for hours. Hopefully the funds from both those parcels will reach my account soon.

I have a dehumidifier which has really helped in my bedroom along with using mould paint on the walls. I'm looking to get a second one for the spare room as well for drying clothes. It does cost about £2.00 to run overnight.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

Thanks Sarahwithlove. The walls don’t seem to get mould on them, but wooden furniture, particularly the back of DS’s chests of drawers do. I think it’s down to it being against a cold wall, but I have left a large enough gap for air to circulate behind. I’m considering buying some sheets of kingspan insulation to stick on the wall behind them to see if it makes a difference. They are on alcove walls either side of an old chimney breast wall (which doesn’t have any damp issues). It backs onto next door which is empty so I’m sure that doesn’t help matters.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I thought it was an hour later than it was, I was so ready for it to be bedtime, it’s been a stressful day. I have managed to finish a book tonight that I’ve been reading for ages so will start on my next one. I have a few lined up to read thanks to some Christmas gifts and charity shop buys.DS came home from cross country today, brown, basically. Everything was caked in mud, so everything has been washed and scrubbed and two pairs of boots are drying out on the radiators along with his school bag. His coat, uniform and pe kit have been in the dryer and I’ve miraculously got everything cleaned for tomorrow, I just hope his school shoes dry out in time for tomorrow.I’ve received notification that the Amazon refund has been processed and will be cleared by 21st. I’m going to try and get to the bank tomorrow to pay in £90 worth of coins I’ve bagged up, most of it is DS’s and some is OH’s so will be transferred accordingly.I feel like I need to crack on with things and being a bit of positivity back tomorrow as today has been filled with the complete opposite. The plan is to deal with a couple of niggling jobs I need to do for work and then sort out the spare room a bit more. I’m hoping to get round to painting it soon, I just need to find the spare time.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I had similar issue with my bedroom wall and used ronseal mould paint and it's been fine since. So don't know if it's worth a try for you or not.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
