MeandO's money-shuffling

Hi @MeandO I don't really know what to suggest with the house, would the council be looking to put provisions in place to support the drain structure? We have areas that can't cope as the drains are victorian and tiny, I believe they plan to do something eventually. Annoying though, especially as you love the home. I would hope we are over the worst of the rain, and the ground is less saturated now so hopefully no more issues until Winter again.
I find the daughter posts annoying on RF, I think they are less on the instragram page, I think the small group fitness sounds really good. I did something similar a few years back, but hated the travel time so stopped going, loved the actual exercises and felt strong. Enjoy! Great deal on the supplements too.
I have everything crossed that the budget behaves for you!1 -
Haven't heard from you for a while.... hope everything is OK? XXX

Sorry about the health issues and hope they are resolved quickly. The drainage I think is probably down to too much building and similarly round here we find low lying roads sometimes struggle with high amounts of surface water draining away. If it has never been an issue before I am not sure I would look at moving house as the first option. The ground has certainly been saturated with the amount of rain we have had over recent months so no doubt that contributed to it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hello everyone and thank you to those for checking in on me whilst I've been AWOL for a little bit. I was unwell for a few weeks again and felt really rough for a while, feeling much better now thankfully. I've had another round of blood tests and X-rays to try and determine what's going on with my body, hopefully I get some results soon.
Unfortunately illness meant I couldn't start the fitness programme I'd signed up for, but they were good enough to defer my membership for a month so I start in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) feeling better about myself and boosting my self confidence a bit as I'm feeling terrible about myself presently as I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I can feel it.
The last couple of weeks have also been difficult financially and I ended this month with a balance on the credit card which I am annoyed with myself about. I will have it paid off within the week though, but that's money I could have saved or paid off the mortgage. The car passed it's first MOT last month with an advisory of a new tyre needed soon, but it needs servicing now too. I can't afford it at the moment so it will have to wait a couple of months.
I still haven't paid for my Will as my appointment has been delayed 3 times due to the solicitor being quite poorly with covid. I have the money in the pot to pay it when I need to though.
My house insurance is due within the next few days and the renewal was unfortunately the cheapest quote I could get despite shopping around. It has gone up over £70 since last year and is now £223.I did, however use the free home emergency policy I had with it for the second time recently when my patio doors got jammed and wouldn't close. It was fixed for free and would probably have cost me £100-£200 if I'd had to pay someone myself.
All of this month's salary has been shuffled around today with £500 going to the EF, £150 to the car/house pot, £150 to the Gifts pot, £25 to DS's ISA and £75 to his school trip/uniform fund. £190 has been paid off the CC and I hope to be able to send a bit more over later, dependent on a refund. The EF is now at £7450 so £50 more to get it to the halfway point of my savings target. I've been thinking a lot lately about savings/overpaying and it's caused a me a bit of worry as I'm concerned about my drop in income once DS is of an age where I will no longer receive CB/UC etc in a few years. The plan is to save as much as I can before then so I have a pot of money to fall back on if things get tight. I should also be able to pay a chunk off the mortgage that way as I'm not currently overpaying it as I'm throwing everything I can into the savings instead.
DS has needed new school uniform this month at a cost of £60 and new sports boots at a cost of £65. His father has said he will contribute £30 towards the above but I've yet to see any money. I've also had further hassle with him paying towards DS's school trip which he previously agreed to do, in fact, he was championing it in front of DS. I expect the same hassle every month now. DS will also need some more uniform, new school bag and supplies over the summer but I hope to have saved a bit more towards it by then.
That's pretty much a round up of everything for now, hope all's well with everyone xx

I am glad you are on the mend and have everything crossed that you start to feel better soon and they they work out what is going on. Hopefully you will really enjoy the fitness program and it will help you feel better and more connected to yourself.
I am always amazed at your savings, I don't think you give yourself enough credit! Amazing savings!
Urgh I am sorry your ex is still being such a douche, how annoying!1 -
I too think you do an incredible job of managing your finances. Not only do you have little to no debt, you have overpaid your mortgage considerably and you have a decent savings pot all while bringing up your DS with your ex hindering you at every turn. I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Your mortgage is also relatively small. Sorry you have been unwell and give yourself a break over the weight and when you are feeling better maybe just start with small diet changes and increased exercise.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
