MeandO's money-shuffling

Thank you Mrs_Money_Penny, Newstartforme & DFW321. Yes, the buyer has had the trainers and their money back, so completely free to them. It’s daft but it’s really upset me, especially when I’d done nothing wrong in the first place. I managed to withdraw £5 from the other sale and sent DS £40. I haven’t told him what’s happened as he’ll tell me to keep the money and that’s not fair on him. I’m not sure where I’m going to squeeze the other £35 from though as money is so tight already. 😔
I was feeling rough again this morning and oh-so tired so didn’t have much of an expectation for achieving much today, but I’m pleased to report that I got lots done. I took some painkillers and more or less forced myself to rip the carpet, underlay and gripper strips up that need to be removed before work starts next week. I managed to stab my thumb very slightly with a rusty nail from the gripper strip so I’m debating whether I need to seek out a tetanus shot or if I’m fine as I can hardly see the puncture wound now and it didn’t go in very deep, only bleeding a little. I’ve had all the usual immunisations at school but that was a long time ago now…
The floor under the carpet is damp (hence the work having to be done), 😕so the carpet and underlay absolutely stank moldy and musty, so I threw it in the car and took it straight to the tip, picking up an electrical item belonging to OH’s parents on the way that needed to be tipped. We have rugs laid over the floor for now.
Whilst out, I popped to a shop to pick up one item I’d forgotten and ended up picking an old lady up off the floor who fell right in front of me. Poor lady was shaken up and will probably be bruised in the morning, but nothing appeared broken, thankfully. I waited with her until medics arrived and then left to avoid her being crowded.I hoovered the car out this evening to get rid of all traces of the carpet and also hoovered through the house to check I got all the loose bits of concrete and dusty stuff up.
Next, I counted out a huge tin of loose change my Mum and Dad kindly gave us. It’s a bit of a tradition of my Dad’s that he keeps and old tin which he throws bits of loose change in when he comes home from the shops etc and collects it for DS. ❤️ There is around £40 to go in his savings account when I get to a bank, plus lots left that I’ve put in a tin to go towards making up the whole £’s needed to be able to bank the change next time.
I’ve put some of the change in my purse and have transferred the money to DS’s savings and I will use that for groceries for a little while instead of using my card. Money has been deducted from the groceries online pot to allow for that.OH and I picked up 5 books for £2 on a charity stall today too. One is for my Mum as she will love to read that title when her eyes are (hopefully) better. Two were OH’s and I had two books to read which I’m really excited about as I’ve not been able to find a book I can get into for a while. I had change in my purse so used that.
I’ve just thrown some bicarb, white vinegar and a bit of lemon juice, followed by hot water, down the kitchen sink as it’s smelling musty and as our downstairs is quite open plan, I can smell it all around downstairs. 🤢 Intried using a drain snake tool thingy earlier but that just seemed to get stuck and did nothing. If the bicarb doesn’t work I’ll have to look at getting some drain unblocker stuff, but would rather try the non-chemical option first. I never use bleach of any kind so am reluctant to use anything like that if I can help it.I’ve just had a cuppa, now I’m going to get my pyjamas on, sit in bed and read one of my new (to me) books. Sleep well all xx

Well done for getting so much done. And for helping that lady. You're a kind soul. ❤️
Just a thought on the sales you lost and the fact you have been given £40 in change...I think in this instance I'd be honest with DS about what's happened and say you've both lost out, but you've got the same amount of money in change for him so effectively he won't have lost anything. I'm assuming you paid for the trainers the first time round so I don't think it fair you have to pay for them twice when it wasn't your fault the money and sale went wrong. ❤️

Thanks @debtfreewannabe321, but my Parents gave the change to DS so in my mind they'd effectively be paying for the loss and that would make me feel bad too. The guilt we put on ourselves eh? 😔There is around £30 left in the 'school/clothing/anything else for DS pot' so I may sweep that to the main account to more or less cover it. It will leave nothing in that account though so I hope I don't get any £££ requests from school in the meantime, okus I do need to seek out some maths tutoring for DS. There's always something to pay for. :(
I didn't realise that @Newstartforme, thank you for that tip. If I have no luck with the resolver complaint I'll try that department.Mortgage at highest: £147,500 Now: £64,755.45

I hope you get somewhere with getting the money back. I've pulled all my money out of there now that I had sitting in there after reading someone else's story on SM. And now after reading yours I'm very glad I did. Every time a sale goes through now I pull out the cash immediately. What a shame when we can't trust these companies.

Thanks DFW321, yes, I wouldn't advise leaving money in there for long. I'm gutted really as the extra £'s really helped me some months and ebay doesn't seem to be as good for selling clothing. I'll have to try now though as it's the only way to get rid of this huge pile of clothes I have to sell. They were mostly DS's, so sport brands which are too good to give away, especially when money is so tight. :(
Monday morning 😣 and I really had the Sunday evening blues yesterday.
It wasn't the greatest of weekends; DS and I had a falling out yesterday which always leaves me feeling really low. I think I'm getting both the best of him and the worst of him at the moment due to him being here more and the issues he's dealing with regarding his Dad, and it had been a few days of the latter which boiled over Saturday night and Sunday morning. ☹️ My tiredness doesn't help me deal with teenage moods either but no amount of going to bed early seems to help. Last night was an awful night's sleep as I was in a lot of pain and OH was with me with his new CPAP machine for sleep apnoea which he's trying to get used to, so his (and my) sleep was very disturbed. Shattered doesn't cover it. :(
Yesterday was a NSD though and we met up with our lovely friends in the afternoon whom we haven't seen for several weeks, so ended the weekend on a positive. It was really nice to see them and to catch up. One of them is a GP and was a little shocked at the decline in my health since they saw me last, so I had some off the record advise on how to move things forward and chase up various lines of treatment.
I listed a lot of quite niche antiquey things on FB a few days ago when panicking about money and one will have hopefully sold if collected as promised this evening. It's the lowest value item listed at £10, but it's £10 I didn't have before. I could really do with some of the others selling now.Mortgage at highest: £147,500 Now: £64,755.45

Each tenner adds up I find and it creates space in the house.
I hope you can sort your health out. I am still struggling to find anyone to help with my issues they just keep giving me diagnosis and sending me on my way with no follow ups 😒. Life really sucks when you haven't got great health or energy.
Sorry about your fall out with DS too, teens can be really unkind to those they love and feel safest with. I found my DS always saved up his anger and hatred for me. He would hold it in whilst with dad and let it all go when he got home. Big hugs x

Thanks DFW321, yes, £10 is better than nothing and one (or two in this case) things gone from the house. :)
It's so difficult trying to get help with health issues isn't it. I haven't even really had a proper diagnosis and they rule one thing out only to say, 'well it's not that so we've done our job and you can go now' but I feel like shouting, it's not gone away, in fact it's getting worse! Just because it's not the one thing you tested for, test for what else it could be without me having to chase all the time. I feel so defeated by it all, as are you by the sounds of it. :( Sending healing hugs your way xx
Yes, teens are so tricky. :( It didn't help that I was so tired and at the end of my rope so didn't react in the best way on this occasion. 😔 Makes me feel like an awful Mum when I shout back. I'm just praying he's ok and happy when he comes home from school today and we can have a nice evening.
I've just popped to the supermarket and paid for £22 worth of shopping with the change in my purse. 😁 Thank goodness for the self checkout machines in this instance as I just poured it all in. I also 'earned' another £1 in cashback so there's now £20 in the 'Christmas pot' savings for that supermarket. Whilst there, I picked up a parcel containing something I ordered several weeks ago but was delayed. It cost me £19.50 but is now selling for around £60 online so, as much as I love the item, I'll list it to sell as I'd rather have the £60 presently.
I'll also try and list some of DS's clothing on fleabay later and see how it goes, if I have the energy.Mortgage at highest: £147,500 Now: £64,755.45

can you open a new Vinted account with a new email address and start again but be careful only listing 2-3 items a day? EBay is rubbish for selling clothes I think.

Unfortunately not, ArtyJ931. It seems you have to provide ID now to open an account so you can’t open a second. :(
