Try again then - they should at least acknowledge your mail - may be it didnt get through? And what about Money Mail - the Daily Mail?
  • What about the option of joining the old solicitors as a part 20 defendant?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

I dont follow really: the property is sold - it was down to the buyer's solicitor to check all this out before it all went through.

Can you get the press to take this up for you?

We have had dealings with a totally crap firm of solicitors - 3 years now and they have made a situation worse than when we started out, so I know how you feel but though you feel this awful at the moment, things will pass and sort themselves out. Dont place yourself in a position where you may regret your action and the effect it would have on your family.

My heart goes out to you.

    What happened is:

The new owner of the shop went around to introduce himself to the hairdresser from hell, the hairdresser started saying this and that wanted doing (items we did disclose in the auction documents) then the new owner told her to get them done, the hairdresser tells him if it's on the outside it's his problem, he disagrees - than they get their leases out !

His is full repairing and hers is interior repairing lease, the hairdresser's solicitor got her to sign the wrong lease - this lease was not checked by my solicitor then 2 years later it gets placed in the auction pack.

    i.e. missrepresented when sold.

Its ridiculous - how can you be held responsible for a series of errors by "professionals"? I can quite appreciate it though - our a***holes of solicitors have had dates wrong, places wrong, sent letters to the wrong addresses - at one point they were apparently respresenting the other party against us! What a shower. Trouble is when you do have a complaint against them they close ranks - have one of their own check the files and surprise surprise they cant find any reason for your complaints.

Old solicitor is no longer involved, they passed the problem on to their insurer, silly thing is that the insurance dosent cover the clients they were working for.

Well, I just started to write an email to the editor of the daily mail then when my wife saw what I was doing we had a big argument,
She thinks naming names to the mail will affect our claim of negligence later on, that they might get someting over us and not pay out when we get to take them to court, obviously it's probably to risky me doing this, it's almost like solicitors are protected.
No doubt I can do these things later when it's finalised, I know my acting solicitors would not advise me to send the email but then again they have the annual christmas party soon and awards for highest earner, the winner will be at my expense no doubt!

Citizens advice and legal aid etc are not really interested due to it being sale of a business property.

How long a lease does the hairdresser have?

Can the new owner cancel her lease? If so shouldn't he do this to mitigate his own loses?

If the hairdresser is harrassing and threatening your wife and child then it's a police matter. Report it directly to the police.

I still don't understand why the hairdresser's sol is not to blame for this mess too. Sorry.

H signs wrong lease supplied by her solicitor. That lease sent to auctioneers. Albeit your sol didn't check it but why is H not bound by what she signed?
