    An Update

I just received the following very brief message from ParkingEye.  No apology - of course.

    Dear Sir / Madam,
We are writing in relation to the Parking Charge incurred on 15 February 2023 at 16:58, at Harlow Exchange - Main car park. We would like to confirm that this charge has now been cancelled and there is no outstanding payment due.
    Yours faithfully,
    Parkingeye Team

Anyone care to suggest what would be an appropriate amount to invoice them for for my wasted time and stress?

To date I have no response from DVLA in reply to my complaint about a breach of personal data security.

Sadly, you will probably be advised to accept the situation for what it is. If you want to "invoice" PE, you would have had to have contracted them to do something for you. You can try and claim against them but, to be honest, you would have very little chance of winning, as this kind of !!!!!! happens.

I think we can all empathise with you though.

Oh I know I will just be wasting more of my time on them, so I am not really serious as it would be a waste of a stamp.  I could claim I did their "work" for them by tracking down the correct vehicle where they failed.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread as this whole scenario was new territory for me.

Get your own back by contributing to the upcoming DLUHC Consultation to drive further nails into the PPC sector coffin. Far more effective and satisfying than trying to squeeze a few quid from PE for the inconvenience they have caused you.

Once the Consultation is open, it will be first reported on the following thread. Please bookmark it and set up auto notification so on its update you will receive an email alert.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Final Update - posting in case anyone else experiences the same scenario.

Just had a letter from DVLA.  They have investigated with PE and concluded a mistake was made (yeah! Right! If anyone had checked the vehicle model/colour they would have not wasted everyone's time).  They assure me they only gave my details to this (IMO scummy) company because they are a legit business.  DVLA assure me they have had confirmation from PE that my personal information has been deleted from their system.

Thanks for the initial advice I got on this forum to contact DVLA - much appreciated.
