That’s really good @Mstty - especially to have all those bits still on in background.
I’ve switched off the fridge freezer. And turned off all smart devices/ lamps except for alarm/router.
We are with Shell and been told we saved 2 x kWh for the 1st event last Monday.
Haven’t heard about the 2nd event so not
holding my breath for this one either
my dad asked me why I don’t switch off at the consumer unit as it would take less timeLancashire

Our Samsung fridge freezer rather than turn it off we just raise the digital temps and it doesn't cut in for the hour.
The alarm would beep annoyingly and so would the fire alarms if we turned off the consumer unit for probably half an hour of the event lol
Not climbing into the loft
The heat pump I don't like turning it completely off, no real reason.
The router, could use phone data but again as it has a nest system(which I forgot to add) it's easier to keep it on and the four nest boxes around the house keeping in contact.
It's just shot up to 100w the fridge has kicked in lol
We have some camping usb light bulbs which are great so not in the dark, the dog has gone to sleep and watching a movie on the tablet.
We did the following in the 3 hour in day adjustment window
Dishwasher on (purposely didn't put it on last night)
2 washing loads2 tumble dryer loadsHeated and dehumidified the converted garage gym and worked outOven on cooking staples for the week and early dinner at 5pm.
Legionella burnRamped up the heat pump so it doesn't kick in probably til gone midnight.
Charged the second car battery as it needed a boost.1 -
Now that’s interesting - I wonder if I should ratchet up our use in the run up to the event - nothing we wouldn’t be doing anyway - but like you say doing a load of washing/tumble just a couple days earlier. We have a hybrid that we only run on petrol now as Costco forecourt price beats plugging it in at home (only just).
not very green thing to say I know.Lancashire

We're probably going to average a couple of hundred Watts. Managed to do all the cooking for our evening meal outside the slot so we should still get a saving overall, but not going to be many points this time.Didn't even get much used during the adjustment period because we did a load of laundry over the weekend, and the sun decided it had to shine for most of it!3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Ah course so your solar panels would make your use appear a lot lower!
we are getting ours installed this week - roof work tomorrow/Thursday and electrical stuff next Wednesday.
been reading how to make the most of it - been reading a lot on forumLancashire

I was running on my usual background wattage of 31w; router, various things on standby, alarm clock, combi boiler (not tempting fate by switching that off at the wall). I did switch my fridge freezer off for the hour though. And for those with solar, maybe switch them off for the 3 hours, like I do .Got 5* loads washed and mostly dried (*one load washed prior to 1330 on solar, so the dryer was ready to be used). Switched from GCH to electric, and got some stuff in the oven.1

See I’m missing out being with Shell - all we get is a cruddy entrance in a prize draw.
it would be interesting to hear how much people have been getting paid/saving for the flexi demand energy.
im sure I saw someone say they had made over £20!! on Octopus threadLancashire

yeah, we did the laundry while it was gloomy and had a pretty big (for us) increase in import - mostly the drier, and today we didn't really have anything to use it for and actually ended up exporting for some of it. Mrs Raxiel enjoyed a bit of time with the electric blanket though. The PV did help a lot with the morning sessions, we had enough light for zero import with both of them, and I took the opportunity to run a long overdue pyro cycle on the oven in the adjustment period which both pushed the average up and gave the central heating a leg up as all the latent heat made its way into the kitchen. We only got it fitted last October, so we've yet to se it at it's best but it's still made a good contribution to our usage.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
