Horizon Parking Wrong

Hi all,
I’ve recently received a parking charge notice from horizon parking for ‘Exceeding Maximum Stay’ at my local Tesco superstore.
I scoured the parking forums and I’m at a dead end as I’ve previously appealed parking tickets and always happy to do so off my own back and do the research and of course, if I genuinely have done wrong, I will pay the fine.
However, on this occasion, I genuinely believe that they have made a mistake by issuing me this ticket. According to them, I entered the car park at 13:46 on 5th February 2022 and left the car park at 17:38 on the same day which is the overstay they are claiming.
Now the correct version of events are that I entered at 13:46, did my shopping and left the car park, probably no later than 14:10. I’ve returned home and before picking up my partner from the train station at 18:15 another town away, I’ve re entered Tesco petrol station at around 17:30 to get petrol and exited again at 17:38. For context, my house is about a 3 minute drive away and I use this Tesco for petrol and groceries.
Clearly they have missed the fact that I’ve left the car park and returned 3 hours later for petrol and they have categorically issued this incorrectly.
How do I go about this? I’ve tried calling but everything is automated and I don’t want to submit this is an appeal due to the fact that I cannot physically prove that I had driven out and returned later unless I can somehow access the cctv of the store? Do I ask them to recheck the system and images of that day?
The only way I can think this has happened is that once I had entered Tesco the first time, my back number plate was too dirty to read so it may have missed it exiting, and cleaned it when I returned home. You can clearly see on the exit photo that they have provided at 17:38 that the number plate has recently been wiped and cleared of any dirt.
Any tips would be welcome.

Hello and welcome.
Have you spoken to the Customer Services people in the Tesco store?
Were they unable to help?0 -
Horizon do not use the POFA wording, so it is easy to kill this PCN because you can't be held liable as keeper.
Hence you appeal ticking 'registered keeper' and say NOTHING that implies who was driving. Send the eejits this:
Dear Horizon,
I decline your invitation to name the driver(s) on these two visits.
You haven't bothered to use POFA wording so you and I both know you can't hold me liable.
In case that's insufficient to send you scurrying back under your stone, there's also the small matter that this is a case of a 'double dip'. You know what that phrase means, because it's in the DLUHC Code of Practice and even the BPA requires that you are meant to have carried out 'human checks' of all ANPR images to find what professional parking firms call 'orphan images' and should never have harvested my data in these circumstances.
The correct version of events is that the car entered at 13:46 for the driver to do a small shop and left the car park, probably no later than 14:10. In between, the car was at home then a driver picked up a relative from the train station at 18:15 (another town away).
Then the car has re-entered Tesco but this time to use the petrol station at around 17:30 to get petrol and exited again at 17:38. For context, the house where the car is kept is about a 3 minute drive away and this Tesco is often used for quick visits for petrol and groceries. Drivers of this car never exceed 3 hours and it is ludicrous to suggest as much. Cease and desist.
Want to push it and lose at POPLA due to the lack of keeper liability? If not, please cancel and apologise to me for breaching the BPA CoP and the DPA 2018, by failing to bother with human checks and obtaining my data without 'reasonable cause'.

Probably a simple keying error where 16:30 was meant instead of 18:30. Ka-ching... that'll be £20 please!
@Bakezz2022 you only have to use the letter, exactly (well, except for the keying error) as written by @Coupon-mad above to get this scam cancelled.1 -

Am I missing something here?
Edited to add....Hopefully the OP will come back and confirm, in the meantime I'll !!!!!!.0 -
A strong complaint at Tesco Customer service desk will get it cancelled. I did it for my sister who got one for exceeding the time but had paid £5.00 for football parking. (an error by the guy collecting the money entering the reg incorrectly). Luckily, following aa SAR to Horizon, the reg is now whitelisted as staff so no need to pay for football parking anymore.1

Thanks Everyone for your replies, it’s really appreciated!I’m tempted to try and go to Tesco to get it done and dusted straight away - but on the same token, I love the letter that coupon has written, so may appeal first!Boat_to_boliva - you’re correct, I’m slightly confused aswell as it was definitely a case of returning home after leaving the the first time at 14:10 and then returning to Tesco petrol at 17:30!2
