...and almost as important, do these referrals actually work?

Yes, I used a referral code, both myself and the other person got a £50 credit when I moved to Octopus

When I signed up there was only three requirements asked.

    1. You have an MCS certificate
    2. You have your DNO paperwork
    3. You have less than 9kW of panels
There was no question about a battery.

    ...

What's the worst that can happen, you have to change tariff.
This is what I found too. It appears that my issue with signing up is IT related (not unusal problem for our house).

I have E-W facing solar and an EV, so I have the ability to export during the super red period (4pm - 7pm) and can shift a large chunk of my import to 2am - 5am. This combined with a lower normal day rate than my current E7 means that it will be a cheaper tariff for me - even without batteries.

My calculations are based on last year's usage, so with a bit more tweaking of my consumption, I think this is going to be great for me.

Also my past experience of being "on the wrong tariff" with Octopus gives me no concern if a static battery actually is a requirement. When I registered my export MPAN, they phoned me up to politely inform me that I couldn't have Go at the same time and asked me which alternative import tariff I'd like and just sorted it.

Edit to add: my account still shows that I referred my mil a couple years ago. I received the £50 when she paid her first bill.

Exactly my situation (minus the EV) with 4kWs facing due east and 3.12 kWs facing due west. For some time yesterday I had 1.8 kWs spare in the 16:00 - 19:00 period so it looks very promising. Just need to analyse how cooking in the peak rate Nov - Feb inc balances with "harvesting" the summer months.

You can change tariff for the winter period, Octopus limits you to once a month or 30 days, something along those lines for changing tariff. So if this tariff doesn't work in the winter period change to one that does.

I signed up for Flux yesterday. My account is now showing Flux import and I believe that will be from the midnight meter reading. It would have been yesterday if I had noticed that the system had sent me the T&Cs email within an hour of signing up.

It will be interesting to see how long the export takes to move from Outgoing Agile.

I'm the sort of person that likes to read T&Cs and there were a few things I noticed:
The requirements are to have generation less than 9kW. (No mention of battery storage in the T&Cs)
The export is not covered by SoLR.
I wondered whether, by calling the cheapest rate period "flux", Octopus are leaving themselves the option to vary the times. (When I did the demand side management trial - the one before the Savings session, there was a session in the middle of the night where Octopus said that they were starting to see a second demand hump.) This whole tariff feels like the Octopus evolution of the Savings Sessions to me.

Anyone know what the highest fixed rate export deal is right now? Surely this is it?

Loving this tariff and certainly looking forward to much longer sunnier days.

Where is this data display from? Is it the Octopus app?

Thank you. Now you've said it, I think I have seen that mentioned elsewhere in this forum - just not this conversation!

I have avoided Octopus watch for a while as I'd always thought it an app for a wearable product (a watch!). I am now realising I was wrong and "watch" is used as a verb!  :s
