@Alnat1 possibly! The gas boiler is very old though so probably only max 60% efficient when compared with new ones, I'm planning on getting rid of it.

My immersion heater has a timer installed on it (similar looking to those plug in ones with the segments you pull out to choose when you want to use it) - maybe something like that is an option for you? Just set it to not turn on during those peak hours.

Is anyone that's on Octopus Flux paying by monthly 'flexible' direct debit as apposed to 'fixed' direct debit?

Could they please confirm if there's any difference in the import and standing charges by using that payment method - I'm suspecting there isn't because it's still direct debit at the end of the day?

We're thinking of possibly making that change and just trying to gather some facts to help us decide....

I'm on variable DD with my tariffs (see sig) and pay normal DD prices. I have made several tariff changes and always been charged DD rates.

I've never actually paid a DD though as my export payments, since I switched to Octopus last April, have covered supply costs.

Thanks for confirming that, I was sure I'd read it somewhere, about it not affecting the unit / standard charge rates but couldn't find anything Octopus specific.

Wow, I don't think we'll be that fortunate, especially in the latter / early months of a year. Electric part of the bill is already low due to solar & battery storage etc, it's just the gas that'll take a bit longer before it falls away to low levels over the late spring / summer / early autumn periods.

Was mostly due to crazy export prices last summer, SW facing panels that generate a lot in the 4-7pm slots and generous government payments. Tracker gas prices were decent too.

I don't expect my solar set up to give me a free energy supply under more normal circumstances but it was certainly lucky timing with a March 22 install.

Just signed up to Flux and was switched straight away to the new import rates. I am hoping all the documentation I provided was sufficient but understand it could take several weeks to get export set up. Roughly how many weeks/days has it taken for others to get on to Flux export?

Edit: I am currently on deemed export pending acceptance on Flux.

Similar here. Export rate was changed over the next morning after I had signed up the previous evening. Was quicker as I already had export with them.
