I phoned 150 to discuss the price rise from £30 to £55, and matching to BT Essentials £20 per month 74mbps and anytime calls or I am wanting to leave.
First advisor did usual check discounts and just said no, put me through to retentions.
Second advisor said you are in contract will be penalties, I explained no there won't as can leave without penalties, was put through to her manager.
Third advisor, agreed with previous one that I can't leave due to price rise penalty free, explained again, she wouldn't have it, put me through to:
Advisor number 4, She said can lower you to £40, I said no want to leave she said you can't, put through to:
Advisor 5, he said you are not getting the increase, so I said why? he said because you agreed your package before the increase, by this time I was nearly off my head, I took a deep breath and said everyone agrees before a price rise, I want to leave penalty free please can you arrange it, he said hold on and went to speak to someone else and said no I can't as you can't leave until the end of your contract without penalty.
So it appears that I can/can't leave penalty free, I am/ am not getting a price rise, where do I go from here? I just want to leave penalty free as Martin has advised..... Surely they can't NOT give me a price rise to force me to stay to avoid paying my way out, if everyone else is getting a price rise, seems last advisor thinks so....

What does it say on your contract which can be viewed online to show you when you can leave penalty free.0

Have you received notice that your bill will increase yet?

Without any details of your contract in your post VM may well be correct.0

To answer all of you contract ends July, Price rise is 1st April so I want to know when to give my notice before that date so I can leave penalty free as advised by Martin Lewis on this website.Old enough to know better...........0

It will all come down to what is in the specific contract T7C's made between you and Virgin, not what's in the contract between Virgin and anyone else.
Suppliers have been varying their contracts in some subtle (and not so subtle) ways over the past couple of years, therefore you need to sort out the documents that refer to your contract at the time that you agreed it.
Some suppliers have several sets of contract conditions which are relevant to the specific date that the contract was taken out - just one day either side can make quite a substantial difference to the T&C's.
Its always a good idea to download the T & C's at the time you agree your contract as it often difficult to try and find those that have been superseded.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

I haven't no, but many others have and I am concerned they have missed me. I don't want to give them any excuse to charge me another month....Old enough to know better...........0

Thanks I am aware of that, but as per my post, none of the staff are aware of anyone being able to leave penalty free upon the increase, one even said I wasn't getting an increase, and another said my increase is April 1st.... who knows? They clearly don't !Old enough to know better...........0
