Did you get one from the landlord before that one??Estate agent were told they had given up jobs to look after the sick daughter and had a guarantor. Taking into account that the OP is trying to get vacant possession and to sell her Father's house to fund the Father's care, it is hard to interpret this in any other way.1 -
The comment was most unhelpful and extremely upsetting to my sister who has been a very successful landlady for over 20 years (I thought 17 years). She has know sold all of her rental properties. This particular property is far more personal being my father home and the home we grew up in, yes we would love to sell and stop being landlords and that was our plan 14 months ago. Renting hasn’t been the problem, we have successfully rented the property to two previous tenants. The problem is it was let to those particular tenants. When I originally tacked the estate agent I was told the law required that the quarantor passed credit checks only, which he did. We haven’t pursued this as we need evidence from estate agent at this point, eg gas safety not being access, etc as we are apparently “rouge landlords”, the home being dangerous, filthy , unsafe, disgusting, lights fused and unable to be used….all things she threw at us in court last week despite living there for 4 years and never mentioning because untrue. This was reason given for not paying rent.
her former landlord was “rouge landlord” too .
Notice by baliffs was served yesterday giving them 14 days notice.
My sister says she feels defeated and looks dreadful. I’m not about to start a blame game. My relationship with my sister is more important than point scoring and hindsight is a wonderful thing.20 -

Not that artful needs words putting in his mouth, but whenever he asks people if they’ve had landlord training I always interpret as this -
Renting a house out is not something to just do on a whim because you’ve decided it must be very easy what with everyone doing it so it’s basically free money. It’s an onerous and tightly legislated business that needs serious consideration and research before you start a rental business. But some people seem to jump in to it with almost/no knowledge and then post on here for help when it goes wrong, sometimes with issues that would never have arisen had the person known what they were doing to start with.^^^ This is not aimed at you OP.You’ve been through the wringer with your tenants, at a time when you really didn’t need it. But they’ve been given 14 days now so your hopefully near shot of themI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9 -
Time and a place though. And that wasn’t it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -

I’ve heard from bailiffs this morning that the tenant has been granted breathing space until Mid April on mental health grounds. It will then be reviewed. I can’t believe this is happening. This nightmare seems to be unending
