@the_end_of_the_rainbow hello, I got these from Matalan online, I didn’t realise when I ordered but they have an elasticated waist which I think really works for me as normally I have to wear a belt to tighten my trousers as they are always too loose. They do them in different lengths so hope this helps -

    Winter is coming…
seriously cannot believe how dark it is getting in the mornings now, time is flying by this year.
my gutters were flushed yesterday and I think I probably timed it well! He did quote me £95 but because I knocked on a few of my friendly neighbours doors and asked them if they needed theirs done, he got a bit of extra work and charged me £80

Today I’m going to see if I can get some help moving the air con unit back upstairs and will tidy that away for next year.
Financially I am planning to do what I did last month and stay busy so I am unable to just purchase random items.

I need to start thinking of a plan for the morning dog walks now it is getting dark again. He is a very easy dog to walk 90% of the time but he is incredibly fox reactive. At 42kg he isn’t small and I am not big enough to withstand his outbursts if I do not see them coming in advance.
Last year only ( I won’t write a list of years before)I cracked 2 ribs and broke my foot on 2 separate occasions and I’ve noticed I’m not healing as quick or as fully as I once did.
I will add I have always been very accident prone and have broken bones more times than I can count so it isn’t just his fault, I do think my bones are more brittle than your average Joe. I think it’s just because it’s taken longer to heal it’s become a worry.

I already have a dog walker during the day whilst I am in the office so can’t really afford to pay for 2 walks a day, and if I am honest our morning walks are my favourite part of the day, it’s where I get to wake up and mentally gear up for the day ahead

My first weekend in a long time where no money was spent, a big pat on the back for me!
ok I worked yesterday but it’s still a tick ✔️
other than that all very quiet on the money side of things, I’m just plodding along, counting down until each payday. I think I am working the next two weekends so that will help keep me distracted.
I did buy my 1st Xmas present on Friday which has made me start looking at what else I need to get, I am planning to have it all bought and done by November hopefully to save stressing.

1 week until payday and im getting the hang of these no spending days!
currently have £700 still sitting in my account and im determined to keep it there as long as possible. I do have some follow up work being done on the car today but i am crossing all my fingers and toes that it doesn’t wipe this out.
I am now working everyday up until payday as this helps to keep me distracted and less likely to spend.

Payday tomorrow so all spreadsheets updated and money left moved to savings. With the help of my work bonus and cashing out on some sites I am now at 52% of my minimum savings target.

House insurance is up for renewal this month so will see if I can get that down and aiming for as many no spend days as possible.

The temperature has really dropped today but I’m really trying to hold off switching my central heating on, I’m determined to try and wait unit the end of Oct!

  • I've also been tracking my spends this year and haven't had a single 'normal spends' month either. I've written down all my unexpected bills and they're very similar to yours.
I've started adding a buffer in each month now to absorb the spends but doesn't always work as sometimes it's not enough or sometimes the buffer gets absorbed elsewhere 🫣. My yearly pot was emptied out too (mostly on the car) and I still have a couple of spends left for this year.

It is really cold here too and I'm also trying to hold off on the heating!

Hey debtfreewannabe, it’s bloody annoying those unexpected bills isn’t it!

i managed to refrain from sticking the CH on, although I had to work from home yesterday and that was really chilly so I now have my heated blankets back down (currently not switched it on) and using that as an extra layer for now. I also stuck my fan in heat mode for an hour yesterday afternoon just to take the chill out of the air.

I still have my summer duvet on, so until I feel the need to swap that out for the winter one I will make do with extra layers when needed.

I can’t believe we are in Oct already, time is running away.
This month is already looking good for my extras earned pot, quite a few of my survey sites are at the cash out point and Topcashback has a nice sum sitting there for payout. I also have 2 RS maturing so will have the interest from that to add.

Need to focus more on NSD’s going forward, I never seem to get beyond 9-10 a month. It isn’t because I’m frittering money away or anything like that, it’s more one day I need milk and then the next day realise I need bread etc. I am working this weekend both Sat and Sun and they tend to be when I don’t spend so at least that is something.
