Nationwide 5% cashback on supermarket spending
Comments

I have just used my Nationwide debit card in my local Lincolnshire Coop but I don't know if it is included in the 5% offer.
I hope that they show it as a pending cashback within a day or two and I don't have to wait until 6 weeks after the end of February to see if I get the cashback.
The reason for my doubt on the Nationwide offer is that NatWest don't include the Lincolnshire Coop in their 1% supermarket cashback0 -
Other than First Direct, HSBC, Amex Starling, Santander and Wise of course.flaneurs_lobster said:
Since literally nobody else uses Samsung Pay (or that Garmin thing) don't think Nationwide will be the first.km1500 said:"Which payments can earn cashback?
Just start paying with your Nationwide debit card, including with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
If you pay through PayPal, other third-party providers or by Direct Debit, you won't earn any cashback. And you won't get cashback on payments made outside the UK."
Is Samsung Pay included or excluded?

I very much doubt that it will qualify as it is a small local operation rather than a national chain.RG2015 said:I have just used my Nationwide debit card in my local Lincolnshire Coop but I don't know if it is included in the 5% offer.
I don't mean that Lincs Co-op is particularly small but it is local rather than national even if they do stock Co-op products as well as local delicacies.
If you had shopped at the main Manchester based Co-op that would have qualified (I guess!)
we have both varieties but Aldi is certainly cheaper.....Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

You can buy M&S giftcards from other supermarkets, I think that Morrison's might have them. If not, then One4All prepaid card (which is accepted at M&S) from Sainsbury'sGibbsRule_No3. said:Darn, Fortnum & Mason but not M&S Food Stores, where I can easily spend £200 in a month on food. Any chance they could have just been left off the list?1 -

But reading the Ts&Cs, it does include "convenience stores" which also tend to be local. They also say that it depends on whether Visa categorise them as a grocery store.
However, i have just realised I will definitely get my monthly £10 from Tesco so my small Coop top ups will not be required.
"We decide whether to pay cashback based on how the retailer or the goods you are buying from that retailer are categorised by VISA. Retailers are categorised by VISA based on the type of things they sell. We use these categories to work out whether you can earn cashback on a transaction, because we will only pay out for the two categories specifically used for ‘Grocery stores and Supermarkets’ and ‘Convenience Store’ transactions."

PS Just seen the following on the same link above which could make the cashback much more lucrative.
"With a joint current account, both of you will be able to separately earn cashback (up to £10 per month on each card) on Qualifying Spend."

Yes nobody else apart from Barclays, Lloyds, Natwest, Halifax, BOS, Monzo and Chase via Samsung Pay+ feature of Samsung Pay. Otherwise, as you say, absolutely nobody.
PS I called NW to ask if Samsung Pay was included with Google Pay and Apple Pay and the lovely helpful person answering the phone said 'what 5% cashback offer?'.7 -

Isn't Samsung Pay+ just another name for Curve? Love how you describe having to go through a third party (or is it a fourth?) as "a feature".2 -
Hi, I'm also a Nationwide customer and they sent me an email.Ayr_Rage said:@Bridlington1 as a matter of interest were you advised by NW directly of the offer ?
I am a NW customer and haven't heard about it from them.
Thanks for the heads up.
Edited to add : sorry, I thought they sent me an email because I've only just opened this member's credit card account (because of the offer of 0% purchases until next year). But they send me regular newsletters anyway.
