Gas Central Heating Problem! Please Help

Hi, I have a 2 year old Valliant eco tech pro 28 combi boiler. Most of the time it is only programmed to come on between 6pm and 10pm. However, some days, today being one of them, the boiler clicks on and heats some of the radiators, esp the one upstairs?? This happens on and off all day! The timer is programmed correctly, and the thermostat fixed at 67 degrees! Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what i can do to rectify the problem. I am on a tight budget, so cant afford bigger gas bills!
Many thanks in anticipation basil

Where is the boiler located? Could it be a froststat causing it to fire up? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I have just bought a new Worcester Bosch boiler and had it fitted in outbuilding attached to house.
It comes on when it feels like it and you cannot switch it off.
I have had the electrician back who says that the electric bit is fine.
I have also had the gas engineer back and he said it was the frost stat kicking in cos its cold. (It does it on the milder days too)
Then I had the Worcester Bosch engineer back and he said there wasn't a fault with the bolier.
He did say that if the boiler does start up because the temperature has dropped below 8 degrees the radiators would not heat up - it is just something that goes on in the boiler to protect it.
Got up Monday and the timer had gone off and when I tried to switch it on the radiators wouldn't heat through.
I looked at the boiler which we have named Frakenstein and the blue light was flicking on and off.
It now does this when we try and switch it on not using the timer.
The boiler cost me a fortune.
I am worried that I have already had to have something fitted to the boiler and it is less than a month old.
I'd have taken it back to the shop if it had been anything else and asked for my money back.
What can I do about it as there is obviously something wrong with it?NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Perhaps your froststats could be adjusted to come on at a slightly lower temperature. They are basically just like a roomstat without a knob for easy adjustment. Adjustment screw is behind the cover and the one linked to above has a range of 3 - 20 degrees C. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Hi basil 92
Having had a glance through the Vaillant inst. man. I have found the following.
The frost protection comes on when the water temp in the heating pipe drops below 5 degrees or so.The boiler fires and heats the water internally (built in by pass.)
If you have the manual have a look at the Operation section, it will give you status codes. Press the 'i' button and it will show a code. Next time the boiler fires when it shouldn't, do this and if it shows S 34 that is frost protection.
I have a theory that if you have S 34 showing but it shouldn't be it might be an underlying fault with the thermistors and replacing them would cure the problem.
Just a theory.!
Another suggestion, is your programmer is faulty. Does it indicate that it's on when it's not supposed to?
Also have a look at the Vaillant site regarding the burner seal on your model. Not sure if this applies to you.

Hi Canucklehead, thanks lots for taking the time to read up on Valliant and replying, its much appreciated. I do have the Valliant user guide, so will try what you suggested next time it happens. Will have to go out and watch it during the day to find out, (too cold now)!!! Re the burner seal it was checked by a Valliant specialist back in June and is ok, so it SHOULDN'T be anything to do with that. Thanks again , I really appreciate your help xx:T0
