    Looking for some further advice.

As you'll see from the above after BA cancelled the flight and left me stranded, I had to make my own way to London to catch my connecting flight by booking a new flight to London. But to get my money back for the new flight, should it be BA or Last Minute who pays for the new flight, at the time BA insisted on passing the problem onto the travel agent.
Make sure that BA/QR have not auto cancelled your remaining flight sectors.

Can anyone advise on this (see above for details). I've been chasing up BA for weeks for the cancelled flight and they initially responded saying they would soon refund me, but after that there's been silence with my subsequent emails getting no reply. I've tried calling them and they say this can only be dealt with via email. I'm at a loss on how to get any refund for the cancelled flight.

Few airlines refund promptly, but it's encouraging that you have a message from them confirming that they will pay up, how long ago was that sent?  You could escalate to CEDR but that's not a swift process either....

It was sent towards the end of February. I wasn't aware of the CEDR, thanks.
