Car insurance not coming down

Do you live in what is now deemed an unfavourable area, ie where there has been a spate of car crime, ? (insurance co's continuously monitor risk and adjust premiums by area/car accordingly
Thankfully, we went with Saga on their fixed-price insurance and renewed it once. - so peace of mind for three years of fixed price subject to T&C's.
Is that the dinky jag, if so that is a lot of money. (I'm only familiar with the JX and XJS and those were big cars then tey added those little jags to the list and imo degraded the marque.
Have yo considered Saga, the 3 year fix subject to T&C??
Thanks1 -

I dont just look at the price, but go for a good ins outfit that has a reputation to keep but never had to test one because when things go wrong, you want them to fix it
How about buying a classic jag as the isn may be chear. Free tip, dont do what many do buy the car and then try to insure it, look up the insurance costs first, lol
Thanks
At the time Jaguars paint shop was already decades old and they had major trouble making paint stick to early cars. (just plain trouble painting later cars as they still hadn't updated the paint shop).
You can tell it's a Series 1 as the front indicators/side lights are above the bumper, Series 2 and 3 had them under the bumper. Likely a six cylinder model, them only made a few V12's series 1's in the last few months of production.
At the time Jaguar couldn't make them fast enough and had a 2 year waiting list, trouble is it showed in the build quality. Some cars were even delivered to customers incomplete. Some of the chrome trim like the grille caught you up later!
I love these cars though, particularly the later series 2 XJC, they should have carried on with this rather than waste money on the XJS.
Perhaps not the best choice for a classic car though.
They make good money but they'll always cost far more to run and keep in top condition than they'd really ever really be worth due to the poor build quality.
Re insurance, yes age plays a massive part.
As already explained, they rate risk on lots of factors but age seems to have the biggest influence.
Young and they hammer you, start getting older and they hammer you again.

ThanksYou don't mention your age - but it can be a thing. As much as you are accident free since 1962 - the demographic average at any given age will be used to calculate premiums amongst other things. So it may be that:8% of 60-65 year olds have accidents each year10% of 65-70 year olds do16% of 75-80 year olds do21% of 80+ do(I've just made up those figures)So if all the other policyholders of your age were clumped together for accident analysis - it could very well be that as a percentage the number is higher than the age you were last year. So higher risk - higher premium.(Just as a side note - my renewal has come through last week - and I've gotten my premium down from £430 to £360 fully comp on a 2007 SLK 350 with a 3.5 litre engine with an annual mileage of 5000 miles in my 40's with a £45 excess)
Each insurers curves will be slightly different but yes premiums start going up again somewhere around your 70s and pace of increase goes up with age. That said, I only remember our curves going up to 90 (whereas longevity curves went to 120). Fortunately the loading for 90 is still less than the loading for 18.

All insurers are struggling, claims costs have gone up due to parts costing more (cost of living), more potholes, bad weather causing more accidents than normal, etc. They have to pass these costs back to the policy holders or their businesses wouldnt be viable.0

Hi
The consensus is with age premiums go up
I posted on this sit a couple of weeks ago gettig dob/year mixed up ie same for me and Mrs Diy - when noted i told them straight away ad was charged a few extra few quid.
OP - nice pic but early xj. The first time i got ito an xj was in 74 i think uncle bought a brand new one.
The the first air suspension one was in 2006 when a sibling bought xj daimler sovereign it had pipped seat and tv - the ride was like on air - not sure if the wheels were extra cost or came with the car but ace - intially i thought the 2.7 deisle would not roar but it did when asked to do so - they still have it, 40k miles and usually stored/garaed and hoping to get a good price in 20 years or so - car looks new - asis has the new xj, i dont like the back desgin but the inside of the car id first class. Like I said when jag started building the smaller cars it degraded the brand imo

That 3-year quote works out at just shy of £600 a year, so still cheaper than your renewal quote and close to last year's price...might be an idea to snatch their hand off!!......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

IMO the OP was stating it was 1746 quid a year and a "3 year deal," ie fixed price per year.

And diystarter no I'm no snob I am a what you see is what you get kinda bloke. I always wanted a Jag but stuck with Zephyr Granada and Mondeo then decided to treat myself to one now I'm on my own.
Where I live is a small town that is where property is higher than average, no pound shops or even home bargains it's too posh for that and I'm out of place here
Someone referred to perhaps car theft area and I thought no not here but googled crime anyway, right enough to my surprise this town is in the top 5 high crime in Leicestershire,
The only crime I thought it had was assaults, fighting when the pubs close, also there must be a shed load of money, Saturday 8pm I went a walk up the Main Street. There's a cost of living crises, yeah right. Every pub, restaurant, wine bar was rammed with drinkers.0 -

2. The quality of the 70s and 80s cars did much more to 'degrade' the brand.0
