Vodafone & Final Bill (Mobile)

I had a mobile phone contract with Vodafone.

On the 13th Jan 2023 my port over to Lebara completed (using a PAC Code). Today I have my final bill from Vodafone (Still cant believe you have to wait that long!).

When I first had my PAC Code I was told there would be a final fee to pay as I had left my contract early (Call it £150). Today the final bill was showing on my Vodafone account with a credit of £14.00 roughly. The £14 credit was because I left half way through a billing month which I had already paid for.

Does anyone have any experience of leaving Vodafone mid contract? Will they generate another final bill with the £150 or is it all finished now and I just get the £14 credit?

I will of course contact them but wanted to here other peoples experience as I have live chatted them multiple times since leaving and every person gives me a different answer?

Just to add I have contacted Vodafone Live chat, they have said nothing further to pay and I will get the credit in a few days.

This seems very strange. Would be interesting to hear others experience of leaving Vodafone mid contract?

    Halfway through? £150 early exit.
Does that mean 6 months left at £28 pm?
Was it a handset deal or sim only?

    No ideas BTW, just nosey.

Actually possibly if it includes a handset that might be billed separately to network connection charges.
Could take a few weeks to calculate exact amount. depending on any upfront costs. If so it will probably arrive the day before they suggested you would get your refund.

Don't argue, just accept it, but note the date and time of the phone call where they told you this, just in case there is a change of heart.

I left a Sky Mobile contract early at no penalty as they had failed to provide the service or fix the fault so they released me from the contractual obligations.

    It was a handset deal.
Normally I receive 1 bill for both the handset and sim so its not separate. I ported out on the 13th Jan so been a few weeks already.

I have accepted it and have a copy of the final bill downloaded just incase. But just don't fancy getting stung in a few weeks time when they possibly realise their mistake?

Would be very nice if they did forget the £150

Keep the direct debit active just in case and best put £164 aside in case they issue a revised final bill after giving you back the £14.
Did you pay anything upfront towards the handset cost?

  • Yes paid something upfront but cant remember now. It was a deal via MSE through fonehouse.

I will keep the direct debit open, hopefully they cancel it for me after paying the credit back to my bank.

The next few days/weeks will be interesting then...

Don't fonehouse do that thing where if you cancel early (so they dont get their commission) then you owe them the difference i.e. the handset subsidy. So it might well be fonehouse who will bill you for £150

Not heard that before and having looked through their FAQ's it seems after 14 days cooling off period any cancellation charges etc are by the network

Edit - They have a specific section on being in contract with vodafone:

If you are still within your contract, you may need to pay an early termination fee or ETF. You can find out if an ETF is due by texting INFO to 85075. To pay this fee, you would need to contact your network directly.

I think that bit you quoted is about joining them, and your old network charging for early termination. It's not saying about leaving your contract with them imo.

You say it is specific to vodafone but it just says "your network" which sounds pretty unspecific to me.
