    What do the t&c's say?
  • Is accidental damage covered by the guarantee?  What do the terms say?
  • Guarantee We guarantee that all our knives are Sheffield made.
Our knives are guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship providing the knife has not been abused.
In the unlikely event that manufacturing defects arise, the knife will be replaced if it is returned to the place of purchase.

It isn't a defect - you could ask them but I would ready yourself for a refusal.
  • It isn't abuse, but neither is it a result of a manufacturing defect. Ask them, and see what their response is. What have you got to lose?

It's certainly not a manufacturing defect so won't be covered.

It is certainly not the usual use that is  made of a knife.

No, its accidental damage which almost certainly wont be covered

At the end of the day you can ask, I had a Global knife snap in half when I dropped it which I thought was excessive and Global did agree to replace it for free.

I lost the tip of another knife but that to me wasn't unreasonable for having dropped it and so got a knife sharpening place to reprofile it for about £20 inc postage
  • If it's the 1839 range, according to their website, those are "assembled" in Sheffield.
I agree though, they will probably be made from cheap imported steel and materials.
Other than that range, they will be made elsewhere, China anyone?
I do agree that dropping one and it breaking is not a manufacturing fault.
Personally I would be honest and hope that because of honesty they would send a replacement as a gesture of goodwill and being honest?
