  • @debtfreewannabe321 Yep we probably spend 100 a month on planned childrens activities/clubs. I could cancel this and pay debt but between three kids it's a reasonable amount each and a darn site less than other people spend...although how they manage to get to all these activities and find time to eat, wash, complete homework or clean the house is beyond me..
Plus then its nearly 300 on childcare, then food, clothes, uniforms, school trips which started off cheap but have shot up in price and  grandeur of now they are older.
No overdraft is scary but after a while it will make budgeting easier as you are not constantly having to work out plus and minus numbers and what you actually have left. And the less direct debits to think about the easier it is to monitor. I reckon I've had many lbm and epiphanies along the way to varying degrees of success. My latest lbm is that life is for living, if only I'm putting the mental energy into the debts it will tire me or break me so I'll let stepchange help for a couple of years until we are more financially sound.
Kids are so expensive aren't they  but we'd be lost without them hey!
Me too on the many LBMs......if I only I had kept to the first one I'd be rich by now I reckon

My LBM still fluctuates.  It's a long process.  But definitely life is for living.  When the kids were really small, I didn't do anything with them, but once they are at school, I didn't want them to miss out, so make sure they can do the clubs they want to do (within reason).  Also I wanted them both to be able to swim so that was non negotiable.

It's a long process being in a DMP, and I think it's good when people realise this and allow themselves the budget to live, rather than scrimping every last penny to get it paid off as quickly as possible.

@NeverendingDMP you've definitely had a tough year with unexpected expenses so it's not surprising you want SC to take the pressure off for a while!

Survived the week with some.funds left over. A few quid. DH off sick a couple of days last week though so wages are less and we are -124 pounds this week if we spend the whole food budget. Cheap week and a bit back from the e fund I think. Never rains but it pours eh!

There's always something isn't there.  Hopefully just a one off.

Hope everyone enjoyed the freezer surprise. We often have them because I batch cook and don't label anything :joy: I have to wait until it's defrosted until I can tell what it is usually  Hoping the rest of your week is easier

Your batch cooking is a good idea. I do it from time to time and must get some more done. Im afraid my freezer surprise consisted of every random version of processed frozen beige food I could fit in the oven. We all got fed though and it's used up all the odds and ends 😂
