GPS Speed Camera Alert System (new TALEX) £59.99

Just noticed these are going to be onsale from aldi on the 23rd december.

These are the products that are taking over from the TALEX system. The databases will be the same as all Talex systems have to be updated from the website when its up and running. The good thing is now there is no subscription fee for the database so basically you buy the detector and all upgrades are free for life...

Product Homepage

The webpage isnt fully functional (cant download any updates)as the product isnt officially launched until 21st December (so ive been told) But the camera database included is from 11th November 2007

The "lite" one's I spotted in Asda Living, Crown Point Retail park, Leeds for £49.99 but if this is based on the full-fat version this looks a very good deal indeed. Tempting to try flog my full-fat Talex that I just got for £70 on Ebay and buy this instead.

I dont think this is as good as the full TALEX but it is whats replacing it... TALEX and TALEX lite are now no longer being made

Looks pretty good for the money, especially for people like me who don't have or want sat nav.

Looks like the main advantage is the battery which removes the need for fiddling with a cigarette lighter socket. I suppose the only feature on the full Talex that gets any use is the warnings of schools and congestion charge zones but they're not strictly necessary anyway.

Why not pay a bit more and buy a sat nav with this function?

Because some people, like myself, don't want sat nav.

Noone intends this to be an alternative to not speeding. It's about not begin caught out via a genuine mistake, like ambiguous signage etc.
    Happy chappy
