How do you use liquid detergent AND fabric softener?
If you put it in the other drawers meant for powder , you're really just sending it straight down into the washing machine as soon as you put it in there (ie: it doesn't just sit there and waits for water to dissolve it, like you would with powder)

Do you not put your liquid detergent in a small container and place it directly into the washing machine drum?0

Our washing machine has three dispensing compartments as do all the ones I've seen.
1) Main wash Powder Compartment adds powder to the wash cycle (though ours also has a convertor flap that drops down in that compartment so it'll work with liquid detergent if required).
2) Liquid Fabric Conditioner Compartment (most have a daisy flower symbol to indicate its purpose) adds Conditioner to the final rinse (least I think the final rinse - we dont actually use conditioner)
3) Pre wash Powder adds powder to a pre wash
NB You can't put liquid detergent in the Fabric Conditioner Compartment because it'll be dispensed in the rinse cycle.
If your Main Wash Powder Compartment is not convertible to Liquid Detergent you just put at the back of the drum in one of those soft plastic pots designed for the job.

I thought that, but it explicitly says not to do thatcomeandgo said:Do you not put your liquid detergent in a small container and place it directly into the washing machine drum?0 -

If there isn't a compartment to put liquid detergent in (our machine has an adapter to convert the powder tray to liquid), use powder or laundry tablets.

You don’t add the liquid directly onto clothes, you put it in a plastic pot in the drum.waqasahmed said:

It does also explicitly say not do that. Ie: it also says to put it in the detergent drawer onlycomeandgo said:

Does it mention an adapter you put into the detergent drawer for liquid?waqasahmed said:

No, that's the conditioner compartment and its drawn later in the wash cycle.waqasahmed said:As above really. There is a liquid compartment in the washing machine. Do you just basically pop the liquid detergent in, and effectively mix it?

Our last 3 washing machines have had a small flap at the back of the main wash space which you move down if you want to use a liquid detergent. No such flap exists on the pre-wash compartment so can only use that with powders.
What's the make/model of your machine? Instructions online should show how you are supposed to use liquid detergents.0 -

Tbh they *want* me to put it in the TwinDos detergent boxes at the bottom but I wanted to use a bit of liquid before using that function, purely because I want to see how effective it is before getting the refillable thingiesDullGreyGuy said:
