I’m very keen not to see theshower pod happen even if I have to cover the cost of the new bathroom suite myself. The flat is in a £1.3m Victorian property in a desirable inner London location, but with a landlord who just won’t spend money.I bet his own bathroom looks as nice as one of yours!
Anyway - to bring it back on topic, the point’s been made that there are bathrooms, and there are Bathrooms!Well, I Googled it and found similar points made by an authoritative source, 14 years ago!:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Without tiles, he just quoted me £3,251 for the fittings. Then how much for the labour?I've known a plumber to charge £380 a day. The builder who can do the installation as well as tiling charges £280 but he would want more for managing the project. Electrician comes at £50 per hour. Plasterer is just £220. That's in London with sole traders, no VAT. So yes would be surprised if you couldn't get your quote down to £10k all-in.1

£14k sounds a lot to me. We had a bathroom done November 2021 and a second one in November 2022, each came in at a bit under £10k, though they did not involve fitting baths. Also my OH laid the LVT flooring himself.
The first one is 3.6 x 2.1 m and was fully tiled. Removal of all the old stuff involved removing and replacing the internal wall surfaces, as the house is timber frame. The ceiling was overboarded for fitting new lights. We replaced the bath with a 900 x 1200 Mira Flight Safe shower tray, Kudos hinged door corner enclosure and Aqualisa shower. The toilet is an Ideal Standard Concept back to wall with cistern in cabinet, soft close seat and coverThe inset basin is also Ideal Standard, set into a new L shaped solid Iroko counter top supported by the 4 original custom made units which were spruced up and re-installed, as were the 4 original wall mounted units and the original custom made mirror. Original basin mixer was also retained as of good quality and in perfect condition.
A new radiator was fitted, new large electric towel warmer, new lighting, and the newish electric wall mounted fan heater for summer use was retained. Existing newish extractor fan was also retained.
Walls are fully tiled with 400x250 matt white tiles, flooring is waterproof LVT.
The second bathroom is 2.4x2.4 m and similarly involved a complete rebuild. Nothing other than the newish extractor fan and the custom made mirror was retained.
Same shower and enclosure, same toilet, new floor standing units 1200 wide with sit on basin and small Iroko top, new shallow wall units above toilet, new tap. New lighting.
The radiator was renewed, and a new large electric towel warmer fitted, as was a new wall mounted electric fan heater. Existing newish extractor fan retained.Walls fully tiled with same tiles as other bathroom, flooring is LVT.
We chose and ordered up all the fittings, tiles etc, company doing all the work supplied all the necessary building materials.
For the first bathroom their charge was £5135, for the second one £5725 as there was much more tiling involved. We spent about £3k on the first one for the fittings etc, and about £3.5k on the second, mainly due to prices having risen over 12 months.1
