Did the web form thing a couple of weeks ago, got a price, rang them up to check it (seemed very cheap - now even cheaper due to the extra £2500, but yes, included all extra radiators if necessary), got a survey happening next week. So service so far is great, Lets see what the survey reveals!
Keep us posted on how you get on.

From a source close the project, it's around 3 unless you run them at 70C when it's likely to be significantly lower.

  • Could be water heating. If you have a combi-boiler you'll need a DHW cylinder and associated pipework.

Can't fatham out the Octopus pricing. Lots of people getting quotes between £500-£700 full installed. I just had a quote through for £3600.
All they ask is location, type of house and current heating method.
Here's mine (same info asked and given):

    N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill Coop member.
    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.

  • I can only dream of getting a quote from Octopus for solar or a heat pump.

With a SCOP of 3 or below, it’s going to be difficult for end users to save £ when compared to an efficient gas setup.

Doubtful.  Real world SCOP needs a whole year of measurement and there aren't many installed that long. At least I don't think there are...
