Another warm home discount question

Good Morning,

I have checked my eligibility for the WHD on the Gov.UK website, and it has come up I am entitled to the WHD. I called the helpline on Monday and they advised that I wasn’t entitled to the WHD.

They checked my address and said that they couldn’t tell me why I wasn’t entitled to it. They did however have my square footage as 104 square foot, however, I used 119 that was on my EPC certificate.

I am on WTC and my house was built 1950-1966, EPC rating C and 119 square foot.

I have emailed ofgem to see how the helpline are getting their information as the information I am using is obviously different to theirs. Can I check this with anyone?

Is it a flat / maisonette or a house?

It is a terraced house

What's the expiry date on the EPC certificate you have? Would there have been a more recent one and they are going off that information?

The EPC for my property expires in November 2023

If they haven't told you it could be either an issue with your WTC or property.
Would be good it they could narrow it down.

That's weird then.  Has it had an extension at all?  I know EPCs aren't always accurate but 15m² is quite the discrepancy - a whole (large) extra room.

It hasn't since I bought the property, but the kitchen is an extension.

Exactly! I just need to know if it's somethin I can change. I read another post where they were cross referencing DWP info, but WTC is from HMRC.

I have raised it with my supplier as per Ofgem and they have told me to contact BEIS

Oh, that could explain it. 

Before you try to pursue it, you should double check you are definitely under the qualifying income threshold for WTC for your household

I don't know how you pursue it though, you need the VOA to hold up-to-date information.  I also don't know if it could potentially affect your council tax band.

Thank toy. I did check that. I am a single adult with 1 child and don't earn over £20,837.

As when I check with what Spoonie has posted it just has £16,047  as the limit  ignoring the child.
