Is my usage higher than it should be?

Hi. I’ve recently moved out for the first time, and it’s my first time managing bills for myself. I live with my partner in a small semi-detached house, and we’re on the top rates for energy due to moving in October 2022. Our last electricity bill was £149, and our meter says we’re using 10-12kwh of electricity a day. We’re out for 10 hours a day, 5 x days a week, and in the evening have the tv on for 2-3 hours, and an oven / air fryer on for 30-40 mins for cooking dinner on average. I think our usage is way too much for what we have on, we’re conscious about heating/lights on etc. What are other people’s daily usage? Is mine a lot higher than it should be? Would love some advice on our usage and if it lines up with other peoples. Thanks

According to average 2,800 ish you are high at 365 x 10 = 3,650
I'm sure others on here will give you a better idea1 -
Are you using gas for heating, or are you electric for everything ?

I assume you use gas for heating and hot water?
What does the EPC for your property say about things like it's construction, insulation and indeed low energy lighting? Regardless, it would be worth checking whether all your lights are fitted with low energy bulbs particularly if you're in rented - it wouldn't be unheard of for a landlord to fit them for the EPC and then switch them out for old style ones for the tenants moving in!

EPC rating is D sadly, it is a rented property. I have a feeling the lightbulbs aren’t energy saving, but didn’t think they would be making a huge impact monthly. Potentially £4-£5 a month, but not as much as I appear to be using.EssexHebridean said:I assume you use gas for heating and hot water?

In that case, yes you are a bit high if you aren't using electricity for that. Are you sure the immersion heating switch hasn't been left on? No fish tanks, high end computers, other items left on for long periods of time?LiamBucknall said:

Are you leaving appliances in standby mode? There are only three appliances that should be left on 24/7 and they are the fridge, freezer and router.Someone please tell me what money is0

2 X 15min electric showers could use 4 or 5kWh (depending on the shower power rating)
