    Blistex does nothing for me - I use Zovirax.  I also have little pots of vaseline aloe vera scattered about the house and put that on for simply dry lips as opposed to nasty cracked ones.

    Didn't Blistex used to be called Blisteze? These days I use Burt' s Bees beeswax lip balm. The best one I ever had was a lavender and beeswax one from a National Trust  shop but haven't seen it recently.

    I thought that was a treatment for cold sores...it's anti-viral.

    Yes, it is indeed an antiviral.  That's why it's specifically sold as a treatment for cold sores and nothing else  :)

    I am in hospital at the moment and have a very dry mouth and sore lips (no I'm far too old to be chasing the Doctors ) :) But my DD gave me a small Palmers Cocoa butter formula lip balm which is great She swears by it and I must say it is very good
