PAT Testing for White Goods

I provide/leave some appliances in my rental property. Now the EA is asking me to do a PAT test for them even though it is not required by law, nor by my local selective licensing scheme. I understand it only cost me £60. But should I do it?

BTW, I'm a responsible landlord and I just renovated my property. Unfortunately, I did not request a PAT test when the electrician issued me the new EICR.

    You said it yourself. Would you not want to ensure that the white goods are safe? I would just swallow the £60.00 charge and get it done

    only need a visual for appliances, also pat is not a legal requirement only advisable
    Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Arrange it yourself and avoid the inevitable LL markup if they commission it.

    I will bite the bullet and get the PAT done. Hopefully it would last for a few years.

    Just remove the appliances. Otherwise you will also be responsible for their maintenance and replacement. Many tenants already have their own appliances anyway.

    Will remove them gradually. I don't live nearby nor do I have a van to pick them up. It'd be a shame to just dump them and they are in perfect working condition. I always put a clause in the AST saying these appliances are there for their benefit and I will not repair/replace them when they break, nor I will charge my tenants to repair them if they break any.

    It's my first time using EA to let out the property as I don't have time to deal with the hassle anymore.

    Hi

    Are PAT's not mandatory when completing a LL's electrical safety certificate?

    I recall one of our kids doing one on their rental a HMO

    I think certain councils may have made these mandatory as well in certain areas of their boroughs HMO or not - not 100% sure about this  -  for this reason, we always use LA's in order to ensure we are 100% leaga;l/safe but we try to keep an eye on things ourselves..

    If you are a LL and not 100% about the safety of your T, as a good LA, employ one

    We don't even do white goods these days as more trouble than worth
