Cheap as chips are UKPC.   Just pay it, and it's gone.

HOWEVER, i would be writing to the CEO telling him why you will never stay in a Travelodge again as he employs parking scammers ...... .   I'm sure he must know that Premier Inn are currently advertising that they have over 500 hotels with free parking

Someone is waking up to the parking scam

Could one make a complaint to the ASA over the "free parking" statement when there are PPCs hired to trap unsuspecting guests?
I agree. The answer for anyone booking a hotel, even online, is to phone the hotel and ask if they have parking vermin is on site

I always do this and if they say YES, I cancel the booking telling them why. I simply cannot be asked to spend money with a hotel who has no respect towards a customer.
Except the receptionist/customer services person probably doesn’t care. I think if you are cancelling bookings for that reason, it needs to go higher up the chain than whoever is on the front desk at the time to have any chance of anyone taking the blindest bit of notice.
Maybe I should have explained more .... when I do cancel a hotel because they have parking vermin, it is followed by a letter (email) to the CEO. I am fully aware that a receptionist is just a "jobs worth"

What he/she does thereafter is not my problem, they lost my business

If more people did this, things would change.

sorry but thats cutting your nose to spite ya face
If a hotel is the right price in the right location , reviews ok etc and has all i need who cares about the parking firm on site, it doesn't interest me one bit

You are so wrong.  there are 100's of hotels who do not have parking vermin ....  right price and right location.
I'm happy, you seem to be happy, just think about those who are not happy with the money scam at hotels

The point is 99.99% chose a hotel based on cost/location/food/reviews etc
I cant think of anyone whos choice of hotel or supermarket etc is affected by having a parking firm on site.

You clearly mix in a different circle to me. I know plenty ?   and as far as supermarkets go, Tesco is a no go.

And hotels, you only find out once booked, arrive, and probably paid .. then your 99.9% may apply.  otherwise it does not

There are certainly retail parks I prefer not to visit due to certain PPCs and for no other reason.  And I can think of two in my vicinity with no PPC which is such a breath of fresh air when shopping in several stores.

No parking issues at all.  Can always find a space, people don't take the mickey. That is a myth spread by PPC World.

I certainly choose those sites at sales time. And avoid the PPC-infested ones if I possibly can.  I feel so much more welcome in a retail park that doesn't restrict shopping time to an unreasonably short 90 minutes or whatever.

You know when retailers and hotels, gyms, etc. always spout the line that they introduced the scammer 'due to complaints from our customers that they couldn't park' it seems to me that said *customer complaints* are part of the process of a PPC targeting a site.

    Easy innit?

    (a) Send in a few made up complaints over a week/month or two (we know from the DLUHC Consultations that some PPCs like to pass themselves off as the public) then

    (b) approach the credulous victim retailer or managing agent with your 'solution' aka ANPR Parking protection racket.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE ....... Retailers, hotels, and the others are being mugged , it seems so easy to mug them and it seems there are plenty of outlets who are open to a mugging scam

I still say that incentives are offered, off piste no doubt. I don't think the CEO's have any idea what their lower level so called management are doing ?

Maybe each and every CEO should carefully look at the person who signed a contract with a parking scammer
