UKPC charge not "cancelled" by Travelodge intervention but reduced to £5
I have reduced this charge to £5, it will be placed on hold for 7 days as of today to allow payment to be made, if payment is not made within 7 days the charge will automatically increase to the higher rate again. Payment can be made following this link https://ukpcappeals.co.uk and providing the details requested (Parking Charge Number & Vehicle Registration Number).
Kind regards,
(name redacted)
Account Executive
There's no explanation for the fiver charge. I have asked Travelodge to enquire (but I do have the name and personal email of the "executive" ). I am town between ignoring it from now on or for the cost of a pint, making it go away and start a new hobby leaving reviews and badgering them and their CEO etc. It just seems pointlessly petty, but thousands of fivers add up I suppose.

There will be months of research and work for you if you fight this. Potentially a court claim at any time in the next 6 years! They are the prospects if you ignore. Take heed of @Grizebeck's sage advice.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Pay it and move on. All the middle aged sages here agree!
For a fiver it's not worth inviting a £275 court claim.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I'd pay it and then complain to Travelodge - you may get a voucher or something!4

Cheap as chips are UKPC. Just pay it, and it's gone.
HOWEVER, i would be writing to the CEO telling him why you will never stay in a Travelodge again as he employs parking scammers ...... . I'm sure he must know that Premier Inn are currently advertising that they have over 500 hotels with free parking
Someone is waking up to the parking scam

I would query this with travelodge, and stay within the 7 day limit.
Can you pay by cheque? From the Plain Language Commission:

That is probably the amount they charge Travelodge to cancel a PCN and they have passed it on to you.As suggested above I would pay it and complain to Travelodge it's going to be a far better outcome in the long run.5

I wouldn't do that! Why risk it getting lost in the post or not received on time.Half_way said:I would query this with travelodge, and stay within the 7 day limit.
