Has anyone had any experience of a proof of capital interview? Do they look at every transaction during the claim period?

I had one after my parent died and I inherited a house. Yes, they went through every thing, from statements of all accounts and proof of property ownership.
You have been asking this on several threads before, I believe? Nothing in the answers given before have changed since then. You will need to declare what your savings have gone on if you are now below the £16k figure, and declare the property you own too.3 -
Good spot, it'll save us a trip around that extremely long roundabout again.Jyana said:You have been asking this on several threads before, I believe? For those who want to, see the following threads as spotted by Jyana

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.3 -
AFAIK it can be extremely detailed.Deleted_User said:Has anyone had any experience of a proof of capital interview? Do they look at every transaction during the claim period?
It is very possible that they already have information on file.

You need to be honest and tell them everything. There may already be a fine on top of the overpayment for not declaring the property and savings.

I see you were given expert advice on the other threads you made
Did you take the advice you were given and now have a proof of capital interview because you went to them,
or have found out the information by theirselves?

Yep, they can have a surprising amount of info already on file. In my case it happened about eighteen months after I my ESA had been a nil amount due to the inheritance, and I was reapplying for it to start payments again as I was then under the savings amount once again. They knew what date the property had sold for and how much, what new bank accounts I had, etc. and asked how I had got through so much money so fast. The only thing the weren't aware of was the remortgage loan my parent had taken out against it and had to be repaid once it was sold, which cleared things up immediately in my case once they had confirmation of that.Alice_Holt said:

If there is reasonable suspicion that fraud has been committed, DWP can gain access to all bank and savings information. Trying to BS them will not work and can end up being a very expensive exercise.
