What small things have you done w/c 09/01/23

When we start on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, and canceling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning all, a quick post to get us started off this week.
Didn't do much in the way of small things over the weekend but didn't use any fuel, go shopping, eat out or anything as I stayed home in my pajamas as I was feeling rubbish! Ah well a new week and back to good habits I hope.
In good news the dishwasher thats been not working properly since November (which I ordered a replacement for on new years eve which is due to be delivered tomorrow..) has suddenly started working properly.... friday, saturday and sunday its worked first time everytime... so I've contacted john lewis who said its too late to cancel but I can just refuse the delivery and we will then be refunded eventually! so thats quite good (only thing is its going to be refunded back as gift cards as thats how I paid for it after going through hubbys works discount thing to get cashback) but he will need to replace some other tech at some point in the future I'm sure but its a shame its not just cash back into our account.
In not so good news we've got a leak in the roof over a bay window, we had a problem back in Feb 2021 in the same spot which we did a bit of remedial work on so once the rain stops I need to get back out the ladders to have a look.
Small things for today to get me started
* walk to post box to post rm survey item - free exercise
* make ds2s lunch for tomorrow
* meet friend for coffee as we've both got a free coffee voucher - she will check over some forms I've filled in for ds2 too
* check banking and update cashbook
* start my usual post christmas declutter
* update freezer inventory
* write shopping list for tomorrow
* meal plan for the week.
Thats my starter
La E, hope you get the energy thing sorted, so frustrating.
Have a good week all.

Hi Twigs,In the country where I live if your Boss writes a letter to the Court saying that you are "essential" you don't have to do jury duty. So for example, if you are working on something important and everything would go belly up if you took time off you can apply to the Court to not attend. However, if you use this you might get cited again soon.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama3 - Speak to bosses re Jury duty as been called up and need to know whether they will pay or not so I can plan accordingly - expenses I could claim would be less than half my pay!

Morning all
Today I have/will:
Kept the heating off (so far)
Checked online banking. Was paid at the weekend, so transferred some money into savings account, set up a couple of online payments, and updated spreadsheet.
All meals from stores - have some chicken left over from yesterday's Sunday dinner, so will have that with some pasta
Washing is drying on the line
Make sandwiches for work tomorrow
Go for a walk for free exercise
All being well, today should be a NSD.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done3 -
Thanks @allydowd - I think I'd actually quite like to do it, just the potential financial impact that I need to consider. On a personal level I don't doubt that my bosses would pay me, but as we're a small business it may not be feasible!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Have also:
- Had a free home haircut.
- Patched up annihilated car. Drove it to local garage for repair on Wed. I don't think under the circumstances my breakdown company would take it to my preferred garage in another town. Pretty sure they'd charge me.

Afternoon allI started a cold / flu thing over a week ago (not covid) and still feel rubbish. Everything feels like a huge effort
Consequently I have done very little apart from the bare necessities. Today this was:
Checked banks and sorted out a query with one of themReplied to questions from the company who will need to replace the leaky rotten skylight in our kitchen extension roof. They have more questions that will have to wait till tomorrow when OH gets the ladder back into the house to investigate further. This is going to be very priceyBut every time it rains (most days) it drips onto the kitchen floor
Did a load of washing and failed to put it out on the line. I will put it on the airer shortly.Home grown berries from the freezer with breakfastA few crackers and some cheese for lunch, still using up Xmas leftoversDinner will be the rest of the fishcakes OH made yesterdayI need to make a shopping list, and will then call it a day I think!2
