  • Definitely wouldn’t be pursuing it just to avoid a queue, the quick EU lane in most European Airports is the E Gates, and you cannot bring your non EU family members through those.
    This is incorrect.

I have an Irish passport while my wife and daughter have UK passports and in the numerous visits we’ve made to Spain and Italy they have always been permitted with me in the EU lane.

I've come to this discussion a little bit late, as usual...............................apologies.
If wanabee applicants for Irish Foreign Births Registration have pertinent questions to raise - I would us the website chat facility.
Best to get in early doors in my experience - I made my first enquiry at start of play one Monday morning - first in queue, to my great suprise.
A follow up later went to to 11th in queue - but to be fair was answered in decent(ish) timescale, about 15 minutes.
Best to have all questions ready to go in order of priority - saves back and foward responses.

I've found the money to apply, I'll update you in two years when it comes through!
As above - just catching up with this thread again.
If you are applying through grandparents legacy rights - you'll need three generations of documentation.
Apart from your own birth certificates etc. and those of the relevant qualifying grandparent born in Ireland - you'll need your parent's paperwork.
    1. Birth certificate       2. Marriage certificate    3. Death certificate (if appropriate)
Unless I've misread/misunderstood the deal - you need an "Irish Citizen Parent" in your lineage to complete the three generational requirements.
Going straight to grandparent, without including a qualifying parent won't work.
Happy to be proved wrong !!!
