I'd rent initially as you will get a better feel for the area then.

    Enjoy your break.

Hope you’ve all had a nice Christmas we’ve just had a huge lunch. We have been out doing the two viewings. The old lady has moved out so it’s empty. You can really see how much work that needs doing. It does smell of smoke but my sister and mum and niece could not smell it. The electric is chocking so bad and you can see how much really needs ripping out. It’s still really dark but there is a lot of wasted space too. Walls would need to come out and most likely steels put in. Then you have the issue of needing to put more windows in for light.

The plot and area was just lovely the private beach perfect. Loads so space between the houses.

We then saw the second house it was honestly the perfect layout. There was everything you could want. Four bedrooms which were all great sizes. Not a lot of storage that was an issue and the garden ham been laid to lawn so only hedge around it. Parking really tight and the whole area quite tightly packed but the green area in the middle was nice.

Estate agent on house 1 has already emailed as the old lady is living somewhere else so I think she’s even more keen to move now. Maybe there is a deal to be had but still so much work to do.

It is hard to decide isn't it.  The thought of just being able to move in must be good.  My problem would be the parking being really tight.  If you are staying long term/forever then I would be worried about that.  In my mid 70s I hit a patch (sorted by a hip replacement op) when getting in & out of the car was a problem & I needed the door to be wide open.  Will you have a separate room to work from home so you can close the door on it at the end of the day..  And room to just get out of each others way for a while without one feeling they have been sent out of the way.  Being together 24/7 can drive a saint mad.
Sorry my thoughts are just to make you think & are definitely not a criticism of whichever choice you make.

Thanks Badmemory I really appreciate all your thought on here it is so hard but also fun looking at houses. Yes a good drive way is essential we get parked in sometimes and it’s annoying. We do need space hence why we’re looking for a four bed with two lounges. So a big kitchen dinner plus a separate lounge.

We did go back yesterday and walked past another potential one. It’s closer to town has sea views but no private beach. Saying that the town has a wonderful public beach so not too bad. It’s a lot cheaper £157k but has been for sale almost 2 years. Looks in much better condition than the older one with the beach. Here is the link https://home.dk/salg/huse-villaer/rugagervej-15-5600-faaborg/sag-9200000959/ sorry can’t seem to copy it in.

It’s two storey but room to put in a lift at a later date. The garden is smaller than house 1 and slightly bigger than house 2 but as it’s in two stories you get more garden. I’ve not seen the survey but the heating cost quoted are scary. It definitely needs new windows and some insulation. It’s bigger than house 1 but you’d need to change the window in the second lounge so you could screen off for an office.

On our way to the airport we’ve got s lounge hopefully (dg forgot her card) so no spend. We’re staying in for new year which I’m pleased about as it would have been hectic to visit dogs friend just for one night.

Our friends will be at home when we get there so good to see them. Hopefully they will leave tomorrow so we have a few days to chill.

Take care all I’m thinking re my 2025 plans. My dear mum did gift me a large sum so need to think what I do with this when it arrives.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks LWAP yes it might just have potential and it’s a good price.

Trip home is rubbish. Got checked in at gate only to be told two hour delay so sat there nolonger in a lovely lounge for the last bit.

Got to Gatwick trains once an hour and keeps being more delayed. Hopefully leave within the next 20min or so. Being picked up so not that long on the train. Hope your evenings are better than mine at least I can now charge my phone at Gatwick.

    Sorry about the delays.

Sounds like food for thought on the houses but you aren't sure about any of them.

Good news on the gift from your Mum.

Afternoon thank you Savingholmes the other two have been ruled out but number 3 is still in the running. We have now got the survey report and I have found a way to translate it to English so DG can read it. I do also need to email the other agents and say thanks but no thanks to keep in their good books.

Went to Lidl got steaks for new years eve just to two of us which is just the best as neither of us wanted to go out really. It would have been a long journey as our friends would not have been able to get down here so instead we will have a chill out time and watch the fireworks in the hottub for the last time on new years eve. I did also pick up the free fruit on DGs Lidl app as I begrudge paying for blueberries at this time of year so a real treat for me.

We have not done a lot today but the plan is to do the washing (DG does not believe in washing NYE days) and also put the decorations away in the pool bar. The weather is really nice so look forward to going to play in about an hour and dropping some treats off to the other cat sitters who helped before our friends arrived. Back on the diet and it feels good I must say. Gym booked for Thursday then back to doing Tues and Weds classes. Golf tomorrow as well.

I am going to have a good think about my new year intentions and see what I wanted to do last year. Financially I am in a good place especially when my mums money arrives. Yes sounds like it complicated things by getting them moved over but they had to leave my mums account by today for tax purposes and I no longer have an account over there.

Danish Housewise DG is not really pushing to see the survey and I do not want to be the only one looking at these things (she actually has knowledge of buildings from her masters) so I am not going to push it. I know it my heart it makes more sense to rent but I also do not want the upheaval of renting. I am going to try and hold off looking until we get to Spring as a lot of houses get listed around Easter in Denmark. That would fit better with the time scale and getting ours on the market. It was good to go to the town and see it again and spend time looking at the residential areas though. Right off to play some golf hope you have a lovely evening.
