But I'd get it because flying is fun, not to pose. Or at least it is at the moment for me, a bit like driving was fun when I first started at 17. Also to be able to travel the world without relying on public transport (ie scheduled flights).I don't think private jets follow the same business model as the status symbols discussed where supply is deliberately restricted to increase desirability, and suppliers are fussy who they sell to, and second hand values are higher than new etc, and the product doesn't really provide any significant extra functionality over "plebian" versions. If I want to drive from Manchester to London (safely and legally) it'll take almost exactly the same time whether I use my 14 year old Mondeo or a Porsche. If I want to tell the time my fitbit will tell me same as a Rolex would. But if I want to do eg a tailor made round the world trip, a private jet would likely have the same advantages over taking scheduled flights as a private car would over taking trains for a UK trip.1 -
I would bet a pound to a penny that if you found yourself suddenly being incredibly wealthy, through a lottery win, inheritence or otherwise, you wouldnt be driving about in your 14 year old mondeo.zagfles said:The_Unready said:

It might not be a Porsche that you would buy but theres any amount of high end stuff that just makes moving about much more comfortable - Bentley, Rolls, even a high end Merc S Class.
A jetplane would be nice but for private air travel but in reality that would still only make up a tiny amount of your travel time and as i said, its not like you can take it to the shops or nip down the road to visit friends.1 -

Obviously as well as the plane
Plus a spaceship if I was seriously minted, that'd really get away from the "riff raff"
Mind you aliens never get a good rap
