checked the bank and all credit card accounts; I realize that i have many subscriptions that I never use and need to cancel so I started doing that today.
I live in the US with its terrible healthcare system--my insurance currently costs me $1440 USD per MONTH. I think i properly changed it to be only $661 (thanks to Pres Biden and his re-instatement of the Affordable Care Act). Healthcare here is a nightmare. My pension is $1400 per month but my insurance is $1440??? how is that supposed to work?
I need to contact the cruise company and have the drink packages removed so we don't pay the attendant taxes and charges for them. I don't drink at all, husband only an occasional glass of wine.
I have meal planned for the month, shopped for the week and we are eating all meals from home to save money.

Morning everyone. New Year and time to get back on the MSE wagon.
For once it's not raining here in the Midlands, so washing is on the line, and the heating hasn't gone on this morning.
Today will be a no unnecessary spend day. I do need to pop to the shop for a few bits - cat litter and milk mainly, but will definitely only be buying the things I need.
All meals will be from stores - I've got plenty of vegetables and salad things that need using up, so that will keep me going for the next couple of days.
other than that, just the normal stuff
Checked online banking, and updated spreadsheet
No car day, walking everywhere
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done2 -
Great to see it so busy on the thread!
Today I have/will:- Check banks
- Continue considering financial goals for this year
- Make lunch to take to work using up some gammon I cooked the other day
- Turn microwave off at wall after use
- Drive on eco mode
- Update spreadsheet
- Charge battery pack at work
- Text netball team re subs
- Dinner from stores
- Turn oven off at wall after use
- Continue with next crochet project/present
- Park for free at netball
TwigsDebt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,935.00

Afternoon all,
Todays small things..
* lunch was a use up - a pack of bacon at the back of the fridge (was ill over xmas so it had been forgotten about!) All of us enjoyed a treaty bacon butty which definitely didn't feel like a use up!
* cut open the bottle of brown sauce to get it all out - enough for 3 out of 4 of our sandwiches!
* walk around the block for free exercise
* kettle boiled and extra water put into flask rather then boiling again
Still to do
** close off Decembers cash book (been ill so I'm behind on this)
** open up Januarys!
** update kids savings spreadsheet as we get them save 20% of any money they get
** keep heating off as long as possible - extra layers first always
** unsubscribe from marketing emails
** stew some apples that are looking bruised
** all meals from stores
** take some chicken out of the freezer ready for tomorrows meals
Thats it for now.
Take care allSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

- Put another washing load on to make sure the repair has worked (and if it hasn't, it shows before the three month warranty is up)
- moved money not required for this month into an interest bearing account- picked up some (lovely) curtains from Olio- used a saver delivery slot for my grocery delivery- reuse water from my hot water bottle (more for not wasting water than the cost and it only ever goes back into the hot water bottle!)Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline.
