What small things have you done w/b 2/1/23

When we start on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, and canceling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Hello all, I've not posted here since the start of covid I think!
Really need to knuckle down and get back to the small things as we've had an expensive month with dishwasher, laptop, phone, ipad all breaking. We've managed to get a replacement phone and ipad 2nd hand, ordered a dw using hubbies works cashback site but all our savings for breakages is now spent so need to get my pots topped up again in case anything else goes!
Today I have...
* checked banking
* got in touch with amazn to get a pair of jeans exchanged as they've sent the wrong size and as for a refund for a cable for ds's headphones that isn't working
* freezer tetris to get the few bits that were in the chest freezer into the normal one so that I can defrost chest freezer - will leave it off til I next do a big shop
* shared bath water
* meal planned to make the most of what we have in so that I can get away with a top up shop of bread and milk this week.
* made a batch of lemon curd using lemons I had in the freezer from a lidl veg box from before xmas
* rm surveys
* extra layers for warmth rather then putting heating on
* cancelled NOW tv subscription (we were on a £1 films offer) we had the offer for 2 months but have watched what we wanted over xmas so not bothering with month 2
* exercised at home using youtube rather then rejoining gym post covid
* ds1 has suddenly stopped eating the crusts on bread.... (he's 17! ) he's always eaten them in the past.. anyway I'm now chopping the crusts off and popping them in a bag in the freezer and I will make croutons when I have the oven on for a chicken.
Thats about it.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi everyone - I hope you don't mind if I join in.
Yesterday I:-
1. Checked my cupboards and fridge/freezer to see what I actually had before going shopping
2. Made a meal plan based around food which needed using up
3. Made a shopping list and stuck to it (and came in £25 under budget)
4. Walked the dog for free exercise
5. Turned the heating off (only had on for an hour at night)
Today I:-
1. Son and I passed on a subway for lunch and instead I got him a meal deal from Morrisons and I just had a cheap egg & cress sandwich (my favourite) as I was not really hungry so saved over £5
2. Shopped around (same retail park so no additional petrol costs) and bought my two packs of Atora suet for £1.52 cheaper in Home Bargains rather than Morrisons and Asda
3. Bagged up the grated cheese left from homemade cheese and bacon turnovers ready to use on a pasta bake later in the week
4. Stopped myself from buying three things in the shop sales today as I really did not need them
5. Picked up two christmas gift bags reduced to 25p each to put away for this year as spent a fortune on gift bags last year and only some are salvagable to reuse
6. Enjoyed a YS bag of salad with my dinner tonight instead of vegetables
7. Cashed in scratch cards and transferred money one straight to my savings account (they were Christmas presents)
8. Paid in Christmas money received from parents and transferred straight to savings account so it can earn some interest and be used as an overpayment on our mortgage
9. Walked the dog for free exerciseMortgage - £2338.07 BTL 1 £51,089.10 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.02 No Craft Spending in 2023 0/365 Stash Busting Challenge 2023 0/2023 [COLOR3 -
