Had a bit of a sitting on my backside day yesterday. Kids had friends round and given the house reno chaos I ended up in a bedroom so spent it doing life admin and surveys. Managed to nab £5 on ips0s, cashed in £6.41 from pr0lific and also have £9+ there waiting to be approved. Logged into Shopandscan to find £10 waiting there, realised I’d also got £2.50 in nectar points.

To put this into perspective a car service invoice arrived for over £800. It did include new tyres but still…. Did a bit of money shuffling so the car pot is now only £600 in debt.

Sat and updated the house to do list with DH. We only put a few jobs on there at a time otherwise it feels overwhelming.  Basically this week its tip runs (him) and bagging up more waste from the garden (me).  I just need that yellow thing in the sky to appear and for it to stop raining.

Sometimes in the face of large debts the small wins are to be celebrated :)

I like your approach to the house reno. I've just got one long list I keep adding to and it does look overwhelming but I think of it as the master list and it helps me work out what to do next o/wise I would probably do things out of order (well actually I still do but that is fine too as it is only me).

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Had a bit of a lightbulb moment yesterday. It seems so obvious when you think about it but I’ve been trying to declutter stuff out of the house for ages thinking I was making progress.

Yesterday had to do a little food shopping, then picked up some art supplies for DD and a few other bits.  Put it all on the kitchen counter when I got home as we had to whizz out again quickly and when I got back was confronted with this ‘collection’ of items and realised why why I don’t feel I make an impact with the decluttering. Yes, what I bought in this instance was needed and necessary but opened my eyes a bit. I certainly need to be more thoughtful with what is coming into the house as well as what is going out.

Managed to do some gardening this weekend which was back breaking but enjoyable. So much to be done in the new garden and no real vision of what I’d like it to look like in the end.

You start with the 'I need better storage', then you move on to the 'I have too much stuff ' and then you realise it has to come from somewhere ....
I always laugh when I hear people say 'we are building an extension because we are having a baby', like the baby is going to be 24 stone and fill a whole annex.  It is a choice how much stuff you have.  Storage however is  still a major issue.   Good luck.

And three months slip by with no update.  Ooops.

House reno rumbles on. In the phase of ‘not seeing the wood for the trees’ with so many projects ongoing. We did sit down yesterday to pick out the top three big jobs and then wrote down some quick win jobs so it feels like some progress is being made.

Most spare money is being spent on house reno and yet again I’m in a bit of limbo waiting for something to be sorted out in the next two weeks financially so all spending on hold at the moment.

One thing I have been doing is using everup which I hadn’t heard of. Anyone else use it?

I’ve been buying the grocery budget worth of gift cards through them and getting £20-£25 worth of cashback a month.

Referral link above if anyone fancies it.

Got slightly obsessed with it and buy gift cards before I buy anything anywhere now. You can then use the cashback towards more gift cards. Annoyingly Amazon was on there when I signed up but not now.

Really haven’t been as active as I would like on here and it also feels I’ve moved on a bit with clearing the mortgage etc so I’m going to set up a new diary with my focus for 2025.
