Front Door in Living Room

I’ve reserved a new build home in a beautiful area but there’s just one thing bugging me and that is the front door in the living room, in addition the media wall is what would by the natural walk way to the kitchen.
I know you can’t have everything but it’s the one design element I can’t believe they’ve done. I’m currently awaiting the hard hat tour so I’m still to go into the actual space.
I’ve included the plans and I’d be keen to get peoples thoughts on this and if not a deal breaker how you would set up the room.
Living Room: 12’ 6” x 15’ 8”

Thanks
Darren

Hi we had the front door into our living room in the past, I think a lot of houses are like that. It’s not the best set up with the walk through.2

Move the telly media wall to one of the other walls, would seem an obvious improvement?
Is there another door into the house? I've seen some houses like that where they just don't use the front door.1 -
Yes the back door opens into the utility room.user1977 said:Move the telly media wall to one of the other walls, would seem an obvious improvement?

Looking at the room shape/layout, that seems like it might be the best place to put it.
But if things are at an early stage, you can ask the builders if they'll wire in the multimedia plate in a different position.
Is your concern that the tv is likely to get bumped-into and/or scraped, by people walking from the front door to the kitchen?
If so, you can put a 'unit' or piece of furniture under the TV to keep people people clear of the tv. Maybe something like this:

I have lived in a house which had the front door opening directly in to the living room. I hated it. You can add 3 more mats to the one that is already there from September until April. Where will you hang your coats? Are you installing coat hangers on that wall next to the telly?2

So use that if you're heading for the kitchen?DarrenNorthEast said:

not ideal to have front door like that but as I just have a small telly in the corner it really wouldn't be such a problem. Can see the problem if you have a big telly and have to choose a specific wall / place0

That's an odd floorplan, what it in that "void" to the right of the living room? i.e. why is the house wider at the back than at the front?0

I live in a house with the front door in the lounge but being built in 1899 it doesn't have a "media wall", if I were buying a new house then it would be a deal breaker for me but thats maybe because I hate new builds and wouldn't compromise like I did on this house.
Its not a problem as its only me that lives here and I don't welcome visitors
, worst thing is when someone bangs on the front door really loudly

I think that’s weird. Don’t like it at all and having the doormat in your lounge just seems ridiculous.1
