Glad you feel brighter this morning. Things always seem worse in the early hours when you can’t sleep. No point worrying about things you can’t control and you’re a perfect example of someone who’s concentrated on things you can control like your diabetes and debt.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

whinge away! We all need someone to whinge too from time to time especially in the middle of the night. Glad you are feeling brighter late.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

Awww, sorry to hear you have had a bit of an anxious wobble, @Humdinger1. Remember that these happen to all of us at some point or other. It's a case of treating yourself kindly for a while, then emerging out of the other side feeling like your old self.
I know what you mean about the current political situation. I was so delighted to hear those by-election results, but the gloss was a little removed for me when I saw how many votes had been cast for far-right candidates, despite the fact that the Brexitty stuff has led us nowhere except up a blind ally. It worries me hugely that mainstream politicians, some of them actually serving in the cabinet spout versions of these old hate-filled chestnuts as it is effectively poking people who feel angry & frustrated about their situations with a rather nasty self-serving stick. It gets me down too, also the current wars raging & the human suffering they are causing. We watched the BBC2 (?) housing documentary this week. Oh my goodness, that was interesting (Martin Lewis featured on it) but made us so angry. I was aware of the political stuff, but the house-builder role in it all was pretty new to me, followed by an article in yesterday's 'Guardian' about a closely allied topic - shoddy new-builds. I probably shouldn't be flagging it up, as you'll be even more angry if you watch it, although I always think that the day I stop being angry about injustices is the day I give up on life! I'm just wired that way!
Anyway, take care, m'dear.

Feeling like a pit pony doesn't sound grand. Glad you had your LBM and reversed diabetes.
I feel you on the politics side of things...

Thanks yes @savingholmes and @foxgloves feeling much better. I do enjoy my work; I just need to do some of it more quickly; I get too involved..people asking for help, sometimes legitimately. Have to get to the bottom of each case to.know what's what and it can suck me in. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx

Found your diary and had a read through - £140k paid off wow! Glad you sorted your diabetes out as well.
There is a lot going on in the world inc in Ukraine and all those people suffering in the Middle East and I am also horrified by the current Tory politicians. Argh - sometimes we have to just focus on enjoying our lives and doing what we can to help others.
You live on 50g carb a day ? I assume that includes your veg and any fruit? I definitely love sweets too much but maybe trying a low carb may rid me of that addiction - more worried about my teeth than anything luckily ,,, both my parents are Type 2 diab mind you ...DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

So, mixed news. I have unfortunately put weight back on and have moved back into the diabetic bracket. In the very low foothills so my mission is to lose 11 pounds. My liver, kidneys and blood pressure are all excellent. I am determined to look on the bright side: I have the means, motive and opportunity to improve. The nurse was utterly wonderful: it is apparently very common for diabetes to return. However, I'm engaged with managing it and I have lots of support. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx8

Sorry it has returned, but you've done it before so can do it again. Great news about the other results though."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4
