Happy Easter @foxgloves, and everyone else reading here. No cake here. I started back with my bees yesterday. Visited 8 colonies in 3 places but still one location and four to inspect, with two needing a quick re-review middle of next week. My word my back knew about it and I am rather achy this morning, lower back and biceps and shoulders, mostly.

Cake looks so tasty @foxgloves
Hope everyone is having a good BH weekend. This morning I have to imprison His Cattiness in the cat carrier and subject him to a two and a half hour drive home from my parents. He's enjoying being here and my parents are delighted to see him but the journey up was vocal despite the Classic FM countdown

Thanks everyone. Spring Blessings to you all this Easter. I am hoping for some warmer weather & an end to the war.
Mr F made me smile this morning. Today's lamb joint is not even out of the fridge yet & he's already speculating how many meals I'm going to achieve from the leftovers! Soot, while surprisingly not as desirous of sampling human dinners as Ash, does very much like lamb, so will doubtless be on kitchen patrol quite early in the proceedings.
My planned Easter Hunt will take place tomorrow & won't involve eggs..…I intend to go around the garden potting up self-seeded freebies for filling gaps in the borders. I shall start with 5 forgotten over-wintered potfuls I found up behind the rhubarb the othe day - 3 contain an unusual foxglove variety I grew from free seed & the other 2 are lamb's ears given to me by a neighbour last Autumn.
And I am absolutely going to have a coffee out on our coffee bench today even if I have to sit in my coat because it very much feels like time to do Spring things now.
Love to all,
F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!10 -
@Suffolk_lass - That was a busy session with the bees. I'm not surprised you are aching.
@thriftmonster - I don't envy you that journey at all. Soot & Ash only go as far as the vet & the cattery, both of which are about 2 miles away, but they always let us know that they're not happy about it.

@kajikita - Those funny little chicks have been around for decades, haven't they? When I was a child, they were made from bright yellow cotton wool. An ex-colleague of mine used to have to buy one every Easter....not for a cake, but because it wouldn't be Easter without one.

Happy Easter Foxgloves and Mr F 🐣
Coffee and caramel sounds like a delicious combination. Absolutely yummy! Happy baby plant hunting in the garden today too. Even if in your coat it will be lovely to be outside watching the birds and experiencing the spring coming along.

@Moorviews - Thank-you, & yes, that's what I thought. There's quite a bit of Spring colour in the garden - daffs, muscari, comfrey, pulmonaria, pasque flower, violets, flowering currant, etc, as well as oodles of Mum's pink primroses and the birds are always entertaining so it will be nice to get half an hour out on the bench.

Plants are beautiful and the cake looks delicious. I never got round to my proper Easter cake before the GKs came yesterday for the night, so may do it tomorrow if I feel like it…its still Easter after all, and they only live down the road so I can drop some off.
I also share your wishes for the Spring. Can't even begin to put into words what I think of the "orange one"!
