@teapot2 - I make lots of different biscuits but one of the benefits of Twink's recipe is that it makes about 40, so a nice tinful when we have people visiting. Versatile too. My sister sonetimes makes them & half dips them in chocolate. I really like them with chopped brazil nuts added.
Also, I always have all the ingredients in stock.
I do sometimes like a decent bought biscuit, but the better quality ones seem to be 8 to a packet these days, which I find rather parsimonious!
F2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!7 -
where can I find the recipe for these biscuits - not that I need to make 40 as I will then eat 40 !!
edit - just googled Twink and its nothing to do with biscuits !!!!5 -
I don't make 40 of them either for similar reasons🤣. I've got the recipe printed out but I searched the forum and this is the recipe, don't know if there is a recipe in grams anywhere;Debsnewbudget said:where can I find the recipe for these biscuits - not that I need to make 40 as I will then eat 40 !!

Ingredients for Twinks Hobnobs
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
Instructions
Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.
Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.10 -
That's the one! I use butter because I prefer it but both work fine.
This morning's batch has filled a nice big tin ready for handing round with a coffee when our guests arrive. Train delayed so am avoiding the temptation of that tin for a bit longer!
Off to pick some french beans.....shan't want to nibble on those, lol x

We like adding raisins to our twinks. They also freeze quite well if you don't think you should eat them all in one goMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/195

I used to regularly make Twinks hobnobs, but I haven't made any since my eldest was diagnosed with coeliac disease, I need to find time to experiment making them gluten free.
When my children were little I used to make my Twinks hobnobs slightly smaller than half size, soi would end up with nearly a 100 🤣 That way children could have a second biscuit.
I too usually use butter except when I want them to be vegan.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I make half the quantity and reduce the fan temperature to 170c, also making them slightly smaller.
The closest biscuit recipe I make to "a nice shop bought biscuit" is the Paul Hollywood buttery shortbread recipe. Only rather than rolling it out, I roll it into two sausages; freeze one and cut the other into rounds about 4-5cm across. Sprinkled with a little vanilla sugar (spent pod in jar with caster sugar) - too tempting to bake a whole batch in one go!Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £2870.61 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
