Thanks, yes it was a relief. Just need to avoid flare-ups now. It's always a worry waiting for test results.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!7 -
Sourdough did its thing & turned into a loaf. Just flour, water & a little salt.....plus room in the fridge for sourdough jar to live. I started my culture off in July 2017 & keeping it alive has been much easier than I anticipated.

Ooh looks a good'un foxgloves! Is it a wholemeal / rye mix?5
-
@scandimore - It's 200g wholemeal, 200g white, 200g sourdough starter, a bit less than 250g water & 2 tsp salt. Water varies a bit as I do it by feel.

When it comes to freezer defrosting - I cheat a little bit and depending how bad it is I eitherfoxgloves said:Hello Thursday Frugalistas,
*Did a freezer inventory. Mr F has put his hand up for the defrosting. Yay to that, as all the ice scraping hurts my cronky hand joints!

.
pop a bowl of boiling water in the bottom and close the door to allow the heat to soften the ice,
or an even bigger cheat
use the hairdryer (obvs taking care not to get water in the hairdryer)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hot water bottles are my defrosting aids. Both fridge & freezer as the quicker it gets done the quicker stuff is back in & the less likely that something is going to defrost or otherwise go off. I do thankfully have 3 cool boxes, when I can wrest one from DS, by appointment only, naturally. A serious win last time as I managed NOT to soak the carpet through.

The sourdough looks brilliant. I will have to try that out one day. X5
