Way to go, sukeyboo - great work. 

I’m declaring at 30/30 for today thank you cathybird. Definitely won’t be drinking today as it will mark 6 complete months AF - I’ve had no alcohol at all in Apr, May, June, July, Aug, Sept (plus an odd week at the end of March). I’ve only had seven non-dry days this calendar year and we are now up to day 274.

i have said before that really, this is about as much as I can cut it down, without giving up alcohol completely. This thread has and continues to be a massive help to me. Thank you, cathybird, for looking after things for us.

I joined this site in 2018 and read this ‘cutting down / giving up’ thread for a while before joining in, since that time my accounts look something like this:

2018 - 3 months in a row AF
2019 - 6 consecutive months AF
2020 - drank on one occasion between April and November (was determined that I was not going to drink through lockdown)
2021 - 6 months AF
2022 - 6 months AF
2023 - 6 months AF
2024 - 6 months AF

That represents a whole lot of dry days over the last 6 years! Entirely due to reading this thread.

I’ve typed that list of years and numbers out, not to show how pleased I am with my progress or as a comparison to how anybody else is doing, but rather as a sort of affirmation to myself more than anything that it is possible to have these long, dry stretches where I just do not need to drink anything at all. 

To anyone reading this who would like to cut down on what they drink, and is wondering if they can do it, I would just like to say this: 

I drank far too much, for far too long. 

It is never too late to cut down on drinking.

Not drinking can become a habit too.

This thread is massively helpful and the other posters are an inspiration - thank you all.
