Giving Up/Cutting Down Alcohol Thread part 18

Oh how wonderful to hear from Honeybear Congratulations on your civil partnership!! And for living in sin for 31 years! I hope you have a special day! You’re doing fantastic! And it’s so great to know what you’ve been up to. Looking forward to your next update!I’ve been on a long weekend with my extended family. I thought I might have an odd AF night but it didn’t happen. My drinking was reasonably tame - about 5 or 6 units in a sitting.Back on it last night so 12/16 please Cathybird. I have a smart watch which monitors my sleep and for the first time this month I got a “deep sleep” on an alcohol free night. This is massive progress for me.Can I have a target of 16/31 again for August please and thank you.
To anyone who thinks they are struggling - you’re doing great!
Shaggydoo XxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.5 -
To anyone who’s interested this thread was started on the 24th February 2008! Over 16 years… I did join near the start but I know some posting on here still predated me… Maman and Pricey for example. What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.5

Wow @shaggydoo is it really 16 years. I can't remember exactly when I joined but the thread was well established when I came on board.
My goal was complete vanity as although I know it's good for health and money saving, what I wanted was to lose some weight and I knew I'd have to cut down on the calories.
I cut back on alcohol for about a year and then started seriously healthy eating. I lost 3.5 stone between October 2010 and August 2011 and I've kept at my target weight for 13 years on 18th of August.
It's made so much difference to how I feel about myself so I'm living proof that the thread works. 👍

Really nice to catch up on all the positive comments since I last checked in!Less nice is that I only have 6/10 to report for July. I will just keep trying and not running away: this is a conscious decision even though I am stumbling. And who knows - there might be someone reading this in a similar situation who might be convinced not to shy away and instead to give this thread a go.
TF for August please @cathybird - I am spending just about the whole month travelling which is not at all good for trying to get back to good AF patterns.5 -
Good evening everyone. I've been away camping in East Sussex for a few days. Found a pub called the Swan and succumbed to a point of alcohol free Guinness - and very enjoyable it was too. So it's still 30 for me today, please. And I'm on course for a gold star for tomorrow. Woohoo.!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!4
